The second book in a series. Author Bradley M Gottfried goes over the American Civil War battle of First Bull Run and, I believe because First Bull Run only covers 80 pages, the skirmish at Ball’s Bluff (about a month later).
Presentation is a map on the right hand page. Color since this is a hardcover book. Text on the left hand page describing the action. The first few pages is the setup and the armies moving to engagement. Then the main part into periods as short as 15 minutes (though even those are sometimes covered in multiple pages). After the end of the battle a few pages of eventually army dispositions.
As with the previous book, it’s great to see a battle broken down into detail where you can see unit dispositions and advances. Gottfried for the most part uses official reports -- there may be inaccuracies but overall probably what really happened. Sometimes the text is a bit dry but not as dry as the first book (Gettysburg).
For an ACW enthusiast this is a must-have series.
