One thing I didn't mention yesterday is that while I'm
favoring my
bad foot, the rest of my body is taking a beating. Jumping around
on my left leg, as well as getting up and down on it, is starting
to knee. My arms are sore from using the crutches to support me.
My back hurts since I'm not standing properly to do certain things
like eating. Such things happen whenever you injure something and
start favoring it: other parts of your body are strained more and
may become injured also.
Since I've been home so much, I've been watching CNN since there's
not much to watch during the day. I had forgotten how intersting
the news can be. What's going on in the world, not just disasters,
but the world events and such. There are also political shows and
Wall Street reports. I usually don't have time for news, but maybe
I should start watching more when I get back to my regular schedule.
One thing I'm learning more and more is that the political system
is quite complicated and rather interesting. The focus right now
is on the Republican race, since the Democratic nominee is going
to be Al Gore. But the Republicans have two strong candidates in
George W. Bush and Ed McCain, with the only other candidate that
I remember being Forbes.
Now, the candidates right now are focusing on their records, what
they've done before and are currently doing. One of the politcal
commentator's had a "so what?" attitude. It's not important what
you've done before, what voters want to know is what you're going
to try to do once in office. Not only that, but what is your main
philosophy that will guide your actions. All the candidates are
capable, but it's up to them to convince people that they can be
trusted to do what their consituency wants.

So I'm waiting for the players to arrive for the last
BattleTech
scenario in my campaign. Next week will just be a sort of wrap-up
and an occassion to discuss the campaign, for I want to know what
I did right and wrong. But tonight is going to be a slugfest, with
the three main characters fighting for their lives. Once more into
the breach, as it is.
Two of the syndicated shows that I watch have gone into their mid-
season reruns. Some reruns from earlier in the season will be shown
and then new episodes will be shown. I remember years ago when a
show would have new episodes all the way through and then show
reruns continuously until the next Fall. The first show that didn't
follow that pattern was Star Trek: The Next Generation, which did
some episodes, then repeats during the winter holidays, then more
new episodes/repeats cycles. Now a lot of shows do it, and at the
same time too so there is nothing to watch except another show
when all your regular shows are in repeats.
The twenty-six episode standard has also gone somewhat by the
wayside, especially for syndicated shows. Most syndicated hour
long series that I watch are now 22 or 24 episodes to a season,
which means there'll be some free weeks if every episode is
shown twice. I'm not too sure what the broadcast stations do
about this. Maybe some shows are shown three times? Actually I
think there's a few weeks in the summer where the shows aren't
shown, but maybe I'm just trying to fill up space.
