One reason I have a journal is to write down those
thoughts that
I have when I'm doing my thing during the day. I'll see something
on television or hear it on the radio or read it on the web or
overhear a conversation. I have my own opinions and I'll think
my own little commentary, but then I forget about it. It would be
nice to write them down just so I can look back later to see what
I was thinking.
At this point my Star Trek campaign has a few parameters sort of
set. I still have to open up a line of discussion to make sure
all the players understand what my direction will be and to give
them a chance to make their own input. Probably not for another
couple of weeks, once I've thought this over some more and have
read a couple more supplements.
Players start out as cadets in Starfleet Academy, this'll be their
final year when they go on their cadet cruise. It's going to be
four or six possible adventures a year so there'll be a few cadet
adventures, including introducing the campaign plot. Already I'm
not too sure what to do with Donald, who only wants to play red-
shirts.
Anyway, with six adventures a year, two of which are central to
the campaign plot, it'll require about six game years to run
through the campaign. This means about thirty six weeks, not
necessarily adventures. I'm probably going to continue doing
real-time intervals, where one real week equals two campaign
months, no matter if we play or not. I anticipate we'll miss
one weekend or two in six, which certainly cuts down on the
number of adventures I'll end up running.

I cancelled my hard drive order, since it was still
back-ordered
after more than a month of waiting. That urge to buy it subsided
and now I'm once again content to keep going with my computer.
The new PowerBooks are coming out next month, these will still
be based on the G3 processor, until there is a low-powered G4
processor. So these will be announced January, with adequate
availability three to four months later. Chances are if I want
a new PowerBook before I go to Europe, it'll have to be this
upcoming revision.
Mac OS X Server 1.2 looks quite good, from what I've heard. The
Mac OS Blue Box environment is much better and not the processor
hog it used to be. Still no serial support. But it has enough
ease-of-use features to be almost useful as a consumer OS, which
means the consumer version will be special indeed. Certainly
something to look forward to.
There are several I want to see, which I can't with my injury.
Toy Story 2 and The World is Not Enough certainly, with Sleepy
Hollow and End of Days also looking to be interesting. Anna and
the King should be good, The Green Mile is supposed to be great.
With this weekend shot, lets say, that leaves two weekends before
next year and I still want to see three movies before that. That
means two in a week, which I'm not particularly fond of since
I like to savor a movie, but it's been done before.
