I saw "The Hurricane" last weekend. Good movie, more of
a biography rather than
trying to make a statement. I don't know the story behind it, so if the
movie
seems a little too biased, I can't tell if it's because that's the way
it was
or not. Good acting by Denzel Washington. An interesting movie, not too
much
action (only a couple scenes) and they really had to push the nemesis
angle to
have some sort of bad guy to focus on...
I stayed up until 01:00 helping a coworker set up Apache 1.3.9 with
JServ 1.1
on an NT Server. We just couldn't figure out why the JServ module
wasn't
listening on its port. And we tried reinstalling this and that. Finally
we went
back to square one, reinstalled everything in fresh folders. And it
worked.
That's what I was expecting. After three Apache/JServ installations, it
either
works or you can't get it to work. Just keep reinstalling fresh until
it works,
that's my opinion...
I got a raise, out of cycle. Bringing up my salary to about average for
my
position I think. This is like far more money than I'd ever thought I'd
make
when I graduated. And it's really nice, as now I may be able to hit my
financial New Year's Resolutions. There's a point where I'm making so
much
money that I'm rather disappointed that my assigned projects are doing
so
badly. Eh...
I started bidding on Ebay again. After like a year and a half of
staying away,
I was kind of bored and wandered over. Browsed around and bid on like a
dozen
different items. I don't expect to win more than one or two of them, I
have to
refrain from turning this into a "I have to win" sort of deal that I
did when
I was bidding before. One of the things I want to get is a hard drive
for my
PowerBook. It'd be nice to get something for less than $200. I don't
need that
much space, just something more than the 2 GB that I currently have.

I only have two X-Men comics left to get to complete the
collection. Once again,
I blame Shannon for this. It's funny as I look at some of the minimum
bids at
Ebay. It's like you can buy these items for less at an online store,
and not
on sale either. As always, you have to be somewhat careful when buying
things.
Caveat Emptor. I don't remember if Ebay gave you the ability to comment
on
auctions. I know one of the auction places I went to did. It'd just be
nice to
say "you can buy it for less here". It's frustrating to think that
people will
fall for "exclusive" or "rare" items that are commonly available if you
know
where to look.
I better stop, as I just bid on three more items while writing the last
two
paragraphs. Check that, four items. I'm such a tool...
My foot still hasn't healed all the way. After two months. Maybe I
should have
gotten therapy. It's not like it really bothers me too much. Can't run.
Climbing
stairs is a little harder. Gets kind of stiff after I've been driving
or walking
a lot. Bad habit of twisting it when I'm sleeping, so when I wake up
it's a bit
sore. But I can still walk on it. It's not like I'm planning on using
this body
that much longer anyways...
So the last thought for this entry, this being written a couple of days
after
since I've fallen behind again, is that I sure have a lot of little
stuffed
animals on my monitor. Built up over the years. The burro I got when I
went to
Reno with three friends on a whim. A couple of penguins, a hippo, a
turtle, a
moose, all from my sister I think. Rarely think about them, even though
they're
there all the time. Not a very manly image...
