I've decided to start HTMLizing my web pages. As you may have noticed, most of the articles are just text files, which goes to my design philosophy of keeping things simple. But it'd be nicer if it had the same look and feel as the HTML pages. Today I converted the Ars Magics pages. Didn't take too long since it's just a matter of looking for two returns and replacing them with the returns plus the paragrah tags. The resulting page is not as clean if you look at it with a text editor though, so I'll keep the original page around too. And this is hundreds of files, so it'll take me a while to convert everything by hand, as it were...

So we got more stock options earlier this week. It's still just play money, as far as I'm concerned. The interesting thing was that Dave just sent out this long e-mail explaining to people why getting less options when the stock value is higher is better than a lot of options at a lower stock price. Oracle also changed it's policy of stock once a year to stock twice a year, but each grant is half as big. I guess this keeps the peons happy. :-)

Once again I fell guilty at the amount of stock that I received, which was equal in value to last years, but this is only for half a year so it'll be like twice as much once I get the second grant in September. Of course, the stock actually has to go up before it's worth anything, and I feel rather apprehensive if our stock price goes up quickly. The company is valued at this certain stock price, and if it's overvalued then it'll go down a lot once people figure out that Internet stocks are a big money pit. Whereas if our stock price is closer to what it should be it won't drop much.

Maybe I should be doing more work rather than writing in this journal. Then again I really need to catch up on some of my personal things. I still haven't started writing the story for last Sunday's Star Trek game, and from the length of the game it'll probably run 15-20 pages, so I need to get started after I write my journals. And Saturday will be a mostly total loss since I have a party to attend...

So I got this notice that my the carport is going to be power cleaned, so all cars have to be gone from 08:00 to 17:00. Since I don't leave for work until after noon, I park outside, taking a very long time since I'm a bad parallel parker and I found this spot in front of the apartment building. Maybe I'm just bad with spacial geometries, which I think I am. Anyway, the next day I came home and parked, and it didn't look like anything had been cleaned. Still the big oil stains, and the small piles of leaves and other garbage. Sigh. Well, at least I didn't get woken up early in the morning by the cleaners...

The Oscars are this Sunday, so here's my quick picks of who I think should win in the major categories. Best Picture: The Green Mile. I've only seen that and The Sixth Sense and I think The Green Mile is better. Best Actor: Denzel Washington since that's the only one I've seen. Best Supporting Actor: Michael Clarke Duncan because I've seen him in interviews and he's a lot different than in the movie. Haley Joel Osment is much like in the movie, comparatively, so it wasn't as big a stretch for him. Best Actress: Saw none of them, so I have no opinion., Best Supporting Actress: Angelina Jolie who was really good in Girl, Interrupted. Toni Collette did a good in The Sixth Sense, but maybe I just don't think the movie was that good. Best Art Direction: Sleepy Hollow since that's the only one I've seen. Best Cinematography: Sleepy Hollow for the same reason. Best Costume Design: Sleepy Hollow, ditto. Best Directing: The Sixth Sense, ditto. I suppose I better stop now since I apparently don't see too many Oscar contending movies.
