When we last left our heroes, they had just returned
from killing the Bane
Lich, Stolic. We spent quite a while dividing the treasure, finally
deciding
to do dice for them, with each person getting to choose some 20000 gp
worth
of treasure. High point for Elsie was to get the Book of Vile Darkness.
But
the dimwits Calcli and Randolph wanted to choose that so they could
destroy
it themselves. Fortunately, with some lucky rolling and clever
diplomacy,
Elsie was able to garner the book for herself.
Kharlan wandered off and met some Dwarven God of trickery. Urged by his
axe
to accept the God's boon, Kharlan was transformed into a dwarf.
Although he
did get a Wish in the bargain.
The Temple of Cyric found out that Gui was being held at the Fortress
of the
Raven, some sort of Zhentarim stronghold. We travelled there, taking
two days
to get there and arriving on the day that Gui was scheduled to be
executed.
Once there we found out that Gui had disappeared, and by the way, we
need to
answer some questions from the authorities.
Not being one of the more perceptive of parties, we stepped into a
little
building to answer the questions. Each member was interviewed by two
agents
in a side room, while the rest of us speculated about what we should be
doing.
Eventually Tolma was interviewed, and as she came out declared that we
were
all leaving. A few tense moments followed, as we bluffed and threatened
our
way past the two guards to our horses and then safety.

Where had Gui gone? A few divinations only concluded
that our gods didn't know.
Well, not much we could do about it, so we decided to go to Ironfang
Keep to
end the campaign. On the way we stopped in Flan so that Filbert could
visit
his girlfriend, but strangely she wasn't home. Oh well, the vagaries of
a Red
Wizard of Thay.
At Ironfang Keep, we were met with a strange sight. Just before the
magical
defenses sorrounding the Keep was a motley collection of villains. A
dozen
Zhentarim mages and clerics (one of whom is a wizard that we helped and
then
tried to Feeblemind), a few skeletal dragons with riders (one of which
was
a "companion" for a few weeks, some red and blue dragons with Red
Wizard riders,
one of the riders being Filbert's girlfriend.
This is where the session ended. It looks like we have quite a gauntlet
to get
through to reach Ironfang Keep. Something in our favor is that the
three groups
are working in opposition to each other, so we probably won't have to
fight
them all off at once. Elsie's theory is that we just need to get
someone inside
the Keep, then whoever is in there can take care of all the bad guys.
That
might be easier said than done, although Kharlan does have a Wish saved
up.
And how does he seem to get all the Wishes?
