The 12th hole is a 403 yard par 4 straight shot with sand to the left and right, in front of the hole. Nothing special on the fairway and in two shots I'm 23 yards from the hole. This hole is a bit tough to putt because it's on a bit of a slope. Once again I putt horribly, missing the hole a couple of times and seeing the ball roll 10 feet away. Another triple-bogey brings my score to a 1 under par.

Hole 13 is a chance to get a birdie. A 515 yard par 5, straight shot with sand in front of the hole. You want the tee-shot to go far, so that you can use an iron on the second shot and drop the ball over the sand bunker (drivers go far but hit the ground shorter and skip a bit). I don't drive the ball far but I get a good second shot to put me 15 feet from the hole and I sink the putt for an eagle.

Hole 14 is a short par 3 of 157 yards. The hole is on the front side of the green so it's probably better to overshoot it so you end up on the green. A sand bunker on the right is not a worry unless you miss-hit the ball a lot. I forgot to mention the sand bunker on the left, which I land in. Hitting from the sand robs your stroke of a lot of power, so you have to chip it a bit harder than usual. I overstroke it and go 15 feet beyond the hole. I almost blow the putt but the ball somehow manages to end up in the hole for a par.

The 15th hole is a par 4 of 389 yards, very straight but with a sand bunker just right of the hole. I hook the ball left to get out of line with the sand and end up 125 yards from the hole. My second shot is way under and ends up on the fairway, 24 yards from the hole but with rough grass in between so I have to chip the ball over it. The chip is short and I'm 24 feet from the hole and I end up with a bogey.

Hole 16 is a par 3 of 205 yards. There's a sand bunker to the left of the hole but probably nothing to worry about. I put the ball 13 feet from the hole but my putt is a bit weak and the ball stops 1 foot away so I only end up with a par.

The 17th hole is a 419 yard par 4 that curves a bit to the right. There's sand on the right of the hole so you don't really want to slice the ball right. Never mind, I hit the ball to the right unintentionally and the sand is not in my way. The second shot leaves me 30 feet from the hole, my put puts me 33 inches away and I par it.

Now to the dreaded 18th hole. A 492 yard par 5 which goes about 200 yards straight then curves to the right. The first shot is not too important, it's the second shot that's critical. So I hit my tee-shot straight and end up 239 yards from the hole. From here you can see the problem. The ground drops sharply downwards, then rises up to the hole. So the hole is more or less on a slope. If you end up behind the hole then your putt better go in or you'll slide down the hill about 40-50 feet. If you're short then you're putting uphill so the putt has some chance of not rolling back down the hill. There's also a couple of big rough grass patches in the middle of the fairway some 60 feet in front of the hole. All in all, quite a formidable 18th.

I hit the ball to the right and end up in one of the rough grass patches. I forget that a chip shot doesn't go far at all uphill and it falls way short and rolls into the other patch of grass. Now I'm 60 feet away. This time I overchip and shoot the ball 15 feet past the hole. Dangerous position: if I miss this putt the ball is going to roll down far. I miss the putt and the ball rolls down to oblivion, ending up 44 feet away. Not wanting to chance a chip shot, I putt the ball hard and it goes up and stops 14 feet from the hole. Then I putt the ball a bit hard and end up skipping over the hole and stopping 26 inches away, where I proceed to miss the easy shot and the ball rolls down 29 feet. Two more shots gets me in and I end up with a 5 over par, leaving me with a final 3 over par. Sigh, this game can really humble you.
