One of these pop up ads came up, this one was for a small wireless camera. It says "Fits anywhere!" then lists places like "Pool", "Garage" and ending with "Bedroom...". There is a picture of a pretty blonde with "Have fun! Feel safe." below her picture. I don't know, maybe I'm a pervert by heart, but this is a really disturbing ad...

With yesterday's discovery, I was able to get most of the OTM working today. I moved all of the library files over to the Java2/ext directory (knowing that some of the libraries are designed for Java 1.1.8, not Java2). The OTM started fine with a Cocoa window (including the exasperatingly slow window resizing). The ITS (which control a telephone switch route point) started fine also. The agent simulator started fine and I was able to log in and do some minor things, but I couldn't get a softphone to pop up. It's the only thing we have that uses Oracle's Light Weight GUI objects and that's where it seemed to die.

At least I'm closer now that I've ever been. There are a couple of other GUI bugs, hopefully nothing I can't fix easily. Figuring out what's wrong with the softphone will be harder, maybe there is a Java2 library for it. Hopefully it's not the Mac OS X Java implementation that's causing the error.

With that final hurdle overcome I can then finally wipe out the System 9.0 partition. I'm planning on using that partition for Mac OS 9.2 when the update is released, to keep the two OSes separarated. The only thing I'd be worried about then is Microsoft documents. But I haven't had to read any in a couple of months so maybe I'll use my desktop PC for the occassional times I need to read those documents...

I received the last book of my order from Barnes and Noble. Much to my horror I discovered that I had ordered the wrong book. I checked to make sure that it had been my error, and it had, so I threw away the book...

After not posting for over a month, someone on the HLML finally asked when I was going to post my next skit. It's nice to know I was missed and I feel bad that I haven't written in such a long time. Once I start procrastinating about something it's easy to keep going. I'm going to have to write a skit this week...

Similarly, I should Amera one more time. Admittedly, I was a downright awful mentor to the guy and hopefully I didn't scar him for life. But now that school is over and he has graduated (I think), I should say something...

I've decided to give away most of my old Mac software. I'm keeping any anthology collections and Myth (since I have GURPS Myth). And with all that free space I was able to rearrange my games so now they're not so crowded. Everything is on it's shelf and split apart. It looks quite nice if I do say so myself. It's kind of soothing, like rearranging furniture...

I'm reading this book, "Perry's Planet". It's an old Star Trek book, published by Bantam in 1980 before Pocket Books locked up the Star Trek book license. This is a really bad book. Not so much plot wise, as I've read about 40% of the book and it has an interesting plot. But the character portrayals are awful, especially Captain Kirk.

In the first chapter the Enterprise is ambushed by a Klingon cruiser using some sort of sensor blocking technology. The Klingon commander's brother was killed by Kirk and now the Klingon has sworn a blood oath. And then Kirk is actually scared and unsure of himself and whines to Starfleet. I've read other Bantam books from this time period and they also try to make Kirk and Spock and the rest more mortal. And that's like so wrong. Oh well, maybe it's just a sign of those times...
