Saturday morning we went to see Marina Sirtis -- Dave especially wanted to see her. We got there 15 minutes late, once again it was supposed to be in one room but moved to a larger room in another hotel all the way on the other side of the Convention Center. If there's one thing I've learned from Gen Con, is that you have to go early and check with information to make sure the event you're interested in is still being held where you think it will be.

The room was packed with people. All the seats were taken and it was standing room only in the back, with probably a good 200+ people in the room. Marina has probably appeared at lots of conventions so it's all routine to her. She showed a facile familiarity with handling a crowd and keeping us entertained with anecdotes. Truly someone who is worth seeing on stage, which I keep saying about everyone I see at conventions. But it's true.

She said that she was glad when they changed Troi's costume to something more modest. "Counselor Troi, whore of the spaceways." She also relates that she asked and asked and pleaded for Troi to have a chance to helm the Enterprise. Then when they do give her the chance, what do you know but she crashes it into a planet (_Star Trek: Generations_)! Finally, her favorite episode is the fifth season's "Disaster", where Troi gets to be in command as she finds herself ranking officer on the bridge after a disaster cripples the Big E.

After that Dave, Woo and I went over to the Wizard's Attic booth to see if Eric wanted to have lunch with us. When Dave went up to one of the drones, he refused to tell Dave where Eric was, in an effort to protect "the Boss". Dave had to explain that we were part of his gaming group, then the drone said that he didn't know where Eric was. Luckily, Eric made an appearance about then, wearing some sort of squirrel hat. He did have a lunch date, but the other guy hadn't shown up so he came with us.

We ate lunch at Toy's Chinatown Restaurant, a couple of blocks from the Convention Center. It was a bit empty when we went there, though the food was good and we ordered too much. Eric is pretty busy at Cons, he related. He has to keep in contact with various publishers and industry people. Then there are all the fanboys who go to him for advice about yet another D&D retreat that they want to publish. He did mention a nightly poker game that he's been playing in, though tonight there was a birthday party for someone and all the industry people would be there instead.

Eric had to leave a bit early. Meanwhile we finished lunch, then we had to hurry back to drive Dave to the airport. Frantic driving and we arrived at the airport right when he was supposed to leave. Woo and I drove back and got into the hotel garage when Dave called Woo saying that he had missed his flight. We turned around and drove back to pick up Dave, who had scheduled another flight for Sunday morning. Since I didn't want to wake up at 06:00, he arranged for a shuttle to pick him up. Woo also had to leave tomorrow and I had him arrange a shuttle too because I wanted to go to James Marsten's session.

Meanwhile we had nothing to do so we watched television. Drive 2500 miles so we can watch tv. We saw Sheep in the City (stupid show), Saturday Night Live and South Park. South Park is a funny yet gross show. This episode was about one of the kids showing his new dog trick, Red Rover, which is basically just jerking off the family dog. Comedy Channel has some weird stuff on it.

Anyways, it was getting late so we walked over to the Convention Center and looked for the mythical poker game, said to be held right in front of the Dealer Room. Alas, we forgot about the party and naturally Eric wasn't there, though there were lots of random people playing random games. Late night it's much quieter, though there are plenty of people, just not that many walkers. There's a table with lots of games that you can check out if you have an id of some sort which they'll take as collateral. We toured the open gaming room and looked at the miniature contest entrants.

Bored, we walked back to the hotel, stopping over at Hooter's once again to eat their hottest Buffalo Wings. It's a magical place. Anyways, we went back to the hotel and probably talked until we went to sleep. Chris showed up after being missing all day -- who knows what the heck he was up to and I've never asked. He said Troy was playing in a late night Magic Tournament and he'd be back late. And that was Saturday.
