So in the fourth Fight Club commentary they joke about how not-violent the movie is and compare it with Antz, which has a major battle scene and thousands of ants and termites die wholesale. And Antz is a kids movie. My first response was "duh, isn't it obvious to you why the violence in Antz is ok?" Then I thought about it more. I think in Antz it is acceptable because when you get down to it, they're just bugs. Kids kill ants all the time -- so no problem if they die in a movie. Fight Club has graphic violence against people, and that is definitely not kid safe.

I have to remember not to buy from Amazon.com. I placed an order early last month and it still hasn't shipped because one item is back-ordered. Now, they did warn me and gave me the option of cancelling the one item. Contrast this with Barnes and Noble which ships whatever they have and then ships the rest later. At least with them I'd be reading some of the books I bought.
Tomorrow Dave has his 4th of July party. As usual I'm bringing as much steak as I can. And I should have enough since I spent two week's of grocery purchases on meat, plus whatever I have in the fridge, leaving me a bit low. Gotta make sure to make some rice for myself. I've been slowly running out of food since I'm also using my grocery allowance to buy food for Friday gaming. Eventually I'm going to have to order out more but I'd rather try to save some money.

Man, sometimes I think crazy thoughts. Citing lack of time as the reason for cutting down to one game a week, I was thinking of starting a BattleTech campaign to fill the alternate Fridays. The last BattleTech campaign I ran every week, heavily relying on combat-of-the-week scenarios that everybody seemed to enjoy. I could do that again, and yet I also wanted to run a more roleplay-y MechWarrior campaign. And in any case I would have to spend a lot of time relearning the rules. Still, it is in the back of my mind. I'm insane.
