With GURPS 4th
Edition, it's high time that I reevaluated what I want to collect or
own. So I've been selling stuff for the last few months, mostly on
eBay. First is all the pornography I own, which is a whole lot. A lot
of it I just don't use anymore and I can really use the space. Second
are of my comic books except for a specific few: Conan, Heroic
Publishing comics, Hellboy, and that may be it. This was a harder
decision but there is never going to be a licensed GURPS world based on
Marvel or DC universes. Slim chance of a specific property and if that
happens I'll start collecting that comic.
DC Heroes I'll probably get rid of, though I'll wait until later. I
love the game but it has no GURPS connection whatsover. At least the
Hero System has a thin connection — a short Pyramid article on
converting Hero 3E to GURPS 3E. This one I may just give to Riley so at
least I have access to the material should I ever want to run a DCH
campaign again (seriously though, I don't see that happening. It would
be done in GURPS with the same sort of feel as the DCH campaign but all
new characters).
My military books and wargames will also be tough to sell. There is
GURPS WWII so at least that stuff is fine and I'll keep. GURPS Age of
Napoleon is good enough for Napoleonics and it even lists the Sharpe
series in the bibliography. American Civil War though there is really
nothing. A few pages in GURPS Old West which may or may not be enough
reason. I'll have to see later.

Modern day
stuff is probably gone, except for Special Ops which is a
rather specialized topic. The fiction stuff is also probably gone since
it would require a license or at least a mention in the bibliography of
a GURPS suipplement. Future and science fiction military are out and
other historical periods are probably out. Probably about half of my
military collection is ok.
I need to get rid of a bunch of music. Not so much because it has
nothing to do with GURPS (unless there is some sort of GURPS Rock and
Roll I don't ever see any music ties to GURPS) but because I don't
listen to a lot of my music and it takes up a good chunk of space.
Selling on eBay is not too bad. I've been using USPS calculated
shipping which a lot of times I get wrong. The last batch of packages I
got completely wrong and spent a lot of my profits. Comic books
especially can't be mailed Media Mail because they have advertisements.
I'll probably go to fixed S&H fee.
In general I don't care so much about making money than about getting
rid of stuff. There are times when I overvalue stuff but I really have
to not be so attached to keeping things. I set a minimum price that I'm
willing to sell at and usually a buy it now price (except for adult
material where you can't do that for some reason). Haven't had any
problems selling items so far.
One of the big benefits is to free up enough space so that I can get
all the extra stuff out of the linen closet (where I keep my BattleTech
collection) and the pantry (where I keep my wargames) and the upstairs
dresser (where I keep stuff for sale and Hudson Leick stuff [which I am
not ever selling!]). Try to get all my stuff into my closet and the
game room so that there will be more extra space for when my brother
Chris moves in.
