Went to the Mac Filmmakers meeting yesterday. We watched people's videos, which is relatively boring. I guess it can be interesting if you are a filmmaker and ask questions. Then there was a presentation by the Everest Peace Project and mostly I was thinking "what's the point?" Then we got to see a half-hour film, Ball Lightning. Technically fairly well done but the story was really boring and there seemed to be no point to it. Dave did see a point to the film and I agree if you concentrate on a the last few minutes of the film and ignore everything else.

So overall the meeting was not very fun. It's nice that it's on the Apple main campus and the facilities are nice (including wireless access). For the most part I only went to hang out with Dave and Woo. We then went to eat at a small oriental eatery near Ranch 99 in Milpitas I think. Hung out at Woo's for a few minutes then came home about 23:00.

Today I stayed home and worked from here. I've been trying to get the ICM CallManager adapter 11.5.10 code to compile, without success. I did get the 11.5.9 code to compile. I'm starting to suspect that 11.5.10 requires Visual C++ 6.0 which is what the project settings indicate. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong since I'm not experienced using our C++ environment.

We don't have a copy so I need to buy one and I have a bid on a used copy on eBay. Positive is that it's a lot cheaper because it's a fairly old program and there are lots of used copies around. Negative is that you have to wait for the auction to end and then payment and then shipment so it takes a while to get the package and I don't think I have that much time. At least he accepts PayPal and I'm hoping that I can get him to ship it Express Mail.
The only problem working from home on my NT box is that it's really slow because I'm VNCed into the box. Over a DSL connection. It's not that bad for occasional use but doing it all day is really a drag. Maybe I should get Virtual PC. Problem is that it's expensive (since I'd need to get it with Windows 2000) and it would be rather slow even on my PowerBook. And it would take up a lot of space, which I sort of have but I tend to cache big things.

Kind of sore after basketball. We didn't play that much. A couple games of 21. A couple games of Tip. A couple of games of 21 to 11 points. Lots of mosquitoes today and I probably got a couple but they seemed to go after Woo and Eric more even though they had repellent on. Today I disdained the repellent and just kept moving.

We went to eat at this Italian place across the street from Chili's but apparently is now closed. So we went to Chili's which was kind of empty for Chili's. I had the Grilled Shrimp Alfredo and it was ok. Only six shrimp though. I wasn't that hungry. I went grocery shopping today and bought this huge pack of catfish. I think like 6 pounds -- 15 catfish fillets so I guess that's 7-1/2 small catfish. Ate three of the fillets for lunch. Very good. Fried catfish is my favorite.

Dave sold his house. Actually escrow closes in 45 days but it looks like a sure thing at this point. He's probably still going to do DaveCon, though it'll be a bit of hardship since he'll also be packing and getting ready to move out. Since he doesn't have a house, I'm not sure where he's going to put all his stuff because he had a whole bunch of stuff when they moved to LA. He says he'll put it in storage.
