Today there was no day game. It was going to be close since Donald and Fulton could not make the first game. Then Shannon cancelled late last night and that was it. This game me a chance to go to the movies and see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Mostly I went because I wasn't in the mood to go grocery shopping, so this was a way to get me to the strip mall. Bought groceries afterwards, mostly food for the night game.

Apparently Woo didn't get the message that the day game was cancelled so he showed up at my place. I left my door open in case this happened but after waiting an hour he went back home. Unfortunately I had forgotten to take my cell phone to the movie. Probably if I had come back after the movie he'd have still been there. But the grocery shopping took a bit too long.

Anyways, I came home. Took a nap. Then I started setting up the big battle of the day. Takes me an hour or two to set up: getting the right maps, setting up the buildings, arranging the unit sheets. Donald arrived just before 19:00. Woo and Fulton at about 19:40. Fulton had missed the day game because he finally got his new windows installed. Sweet showed up at 19:45.

Had some food for the guys. Did a little bit of roleplaying before the battle. Then started the battle. Lots of talking as the characters try to convince the neutral units to come to their side. Maneuvering as the two sides close in. A few shots fired but no damage yet. By the end of the night everybody was close enough that the real fighting will begin next turn.
Afterwards Fulton, Woo and I talked a bit about Diablo. They convinced me to start putting together Griswold's Legacy. The easiest way is to create the items you need via upgrading base items, making them magical, then turning them into set items. But it does take a lot of money. They suggested I save money by buying a cheaper item to use in a cube recipe. But the recipe says to use a more expensive item. I'm thinking the cheaper item substitution is an error.

I tried to run the Gauntlet. Got killed over and over again. The problem is that there are these narrow corridors where you're bound to get hit. Getting hit stuns you. While you're trying to come out of stun you get again and again. You never have a chance to open a portal or even move. I'm not too sure how you do the Gauntlet. Woo says it's much easier if you have Teleport. Fulton agrees and says it's too easy with Teleport. I'll have to see if I can find something that gives me Teleport, like a ring. Woo also said it takes like half an hour to run through the Gauntlet. I'm not too sure if I'm ever going to be able to do it with this character.

Right now I'm running through the Cow Level. Got lucky and opened up enough of a space so I have room to retreat. My rogue is also fairly good now, doing enough freezing arrows to slow down the cows so they can be taken out. Unfortunately, now the rogue is dead and I don't any money to resurrect her. So I'm just running up to a group of cows then run away a bit. Let them get close then I hit the lead and run back a bit and repeat. Use my big hammer so it only takes a couple of hits to kill a cow. It's a lot of work but it is working. It's going to take me a long time to finish the level at this rate.
