Following the success of Conan the Barbarian, the disappointing sequel killed the nascent movie franchise. I watched this movie and it was just a standard fantasy movie. I do like the Conan elements in the movie: Queen Taramis and city names and even the much-changed wizard Toth-Amon. I don't mind that some things were radically changed (enough that Conan fans would probably hate it). But on the whole the movie didn't click into the epic that the first movie was.

Music was much more subdued this time. When it did play it was good, but it wasn't used much. There is still blood and gore, though not as much as in the first movie. Special effects were pretty bad. There is probably a bit more magic in this movie and it was all done with special effects, which were probably good for the time but still not good enough to have been used in the first place.

Overall probably not a movie worth watching unless you liked the first movie and just want to watch the sequel.
