Shooting Fish is a
British comedy with a romantic subplot. Dylan (Dan Futterman, "Chasing
Amy") and Jez (Stuart Townsend) are best friends living in England.
They're both orphans, Dylan from America and Jez a local boy. Dylan is
the talker, Jez is the technical guy, together they're a very good con
team trying to make enough money for their dream estate.
They hire Georgie (Kate Beckinsale) as a typist and she becomes
embroiled in their crimes. Meanwhile Jez and Georgie have a certain
thing going. It all starts to come crashing down when they make one con
too many.
This being a British film the comedy is more subdued though quite
evident. I though the end of the film was a bit rushed. There were a
few too many twists and then they had to fix everything in about 8
minutes which they did but it wasn't as smooth. Kate Beckinsale was
amazingly cute and really makes the film a lot better than it should be.
Overall it's an ok film though I'm not sure if I'd recommend it.
