Teaser

Austin Powers is back! The swinging sixties super-spy is once again pitted against the diabolical yet inept Dr Evil, now aided by an equally diabolical but only 1/8th sized clone named Mini-Me. Dr Evil has travelled back to 1969 to steal Powers' mojo. Austin travels back in time to stop Dr Evil and he is joined by CIA Agent Felicity Shagwell. But can Austin and Felicity stop Dr Evil and his evil minions?

Movie

This is a comedy action movie. Lots of sixties retro style and humor juxtaposed with nineties references. The first movie was hilarious and this movie matches it.

Actors

This sequel to the comedy hit has Mike Myers reprising the dual roles of Austin Powers and Dr Evil as well as adding the new villain Fat Bastard to the mix. All three are quite different and distinct characters and you'd have to pay attention to see that they were all played by Myers.
Heather Graham was ok as Felicity Shagwell. Actually she played the role well. Verne J Troyer was brilliant as Mini-Me. A non-speaking role with a whole lot of improvisational gestures and expressions and it came through great.

DVD

There is an audio commentary by Co-Screen Writer Mike McCullers, Writer/Actor Mike Myers and Director Jay Roach. It's fairly good, detailing the process of making the second movie and having nice anecdotes about cast and crew. There are 21 deleted scenes though for the most part they're all short and were not all that entertaining (otherwise they'd have been in the movie I guess).

There are seven short behind the scene segments talking about various bits like the time machine and Mini-Me. Three music videos are included: Madonna's "Beautiful Stranger", Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman", and Melanie Brown's "Word Up". Three theatrical trailers as well as the trailer for Austin Powers 1 and the Cast and Crew bios round out the package.

Recommendations

It's a fairly good movie, even for someone like me who doesn't particularly like comedies. The extras add value and push this product to a recommended rating.
