Teaser
Virginia Baker (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is a woman with an obsession. As
an analyst at Waverly Insurance she wants to capture the legendary
Robert MacDougal (Sean Connery), international art thief
extraordinaire. She finally gets the chance to track him down and join
him on a heist in order to catch him in the act. Or at least that is
what she is supposed to do. Gin has other plans for Mac...
Movie
"Entrapment" is an action movie with a lot of character twists. At its
base it is a relatively simple plot that is presented to the viewers.
But it soon veers from the path as the various characters have hidden
agendas to pursue. For an action movie it has a lot of character scenes
since one of the elements is the mutual attraction of Gin and Mac to
each other. I remember that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery were
rumored to be romantically involved during the filming of this movie.
And then she married Michael Douglas so maybe the rumors were not that
far off.

Actors
Sean Connery is still suave and debonair at almost seventy. He still
holds his own teamed up with 30-year old Catherine Zeta-Jones and
together they portray a believable romance. Ving Rhames plays the
mysterious Thibadeaux, who has only a few scenes but shows a different
facet of his character in each scene. Will Patton plays Hector Cruz,
Virginia's boss who is enamored with her.
DVD
There are two deleted scenes with no sound but director's commentary.
One is a car chase that was cut out and the other is a short plot point
scene. There is also an alternate ending which is basically cutting out
the last part, leaving a more morose ending. The director's commentary
is fair with a good amount of analysis about the movie. There are a
bunch of theatrical trailers and television spots. There is also a
14-minute featurette.
Recommendations
It's a fairly good movie though for an action movie it takes a while to
really get going. Worth watching. |
