Movie

"Galaxy Quest" is a humorous spoof on Star Trek and the Trekkie/Convention scene. Tim Allen stars as actor Jason Nesmith, Commander and star of the show. He along with the other actors have fallen on hard times, earning their money appearing at conventions and local Grand Openings.

Their lives change when real aliens -- the Thermians -- arrive on Earth to request the aid of the Galaxy Quest crew. It seems that these aliens have no concept of deception. Having received television signals from Earth (must not be very far away), they truly believe that Nesmith and his co-stars are real interstellar heroes.
Armed with a real version of their old ship, can the actors turn into heroes and stop the evil General Sarris from destroying the Thermians?

DVD

There is a 10-minute behind the scenes featurette and a 9-minute, 7-scene deleted scenes segment. Cast and crew bios and the trailer are the other extras.

Recommendations

It's a fun movie that Trekkers and anyone else who's a little familiar with Star Trek will enjoy.
