Teaser

Zach Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr) is a high school BMOC who has it all -- he's a soccer star, has outstanding academic grades and the head cheerleader as his girlfriend. The geeky Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook) loves art and liberal thought. They have nothing in common until Zach's girlfriend, Taylor Vaughan (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) dumps him for "Real World" participant Brock Hudson (Matthew Lillard).

"Girls like her are a dime a dozen," explains Zach to console himself. "Take any girl. Give her a makeover and the right connections and she could be Prom Queen." "Sounds like a bet," says Zach's friend Dean Sampson (Paul Walker). Dean picks the girl and Zach's job is to elevate her to Prom Queen. And so enters social underclassgirl Laney Boggs, Zach's project and someone he becomes attracted to as he gets to know her better.

Comments

"She's All That" is a standard teen romantic comedy, this time patterned after "Pygmalion" -- a girl of lower social standing is taught to be an upper class person. Freddie Prinze Jr is fairly good in these roles. This is the second time I've seen this movie and this time it wasn't as good as the first time. The ending is a bit lackluster as you expect the heo to come to the lady's rescue but it doesn't turn out that way. Other than that it was an ok movie.

Actors

Freddie Prinze Jr is his usual loveable self. It's hard for me to imagine why teenage girls love him so but then again it's comforting to know that someone like him is a teen idol. Rachael Leigh Cook is ok as a geeky girl. I just thought she wasn't extremely believeable.

DVD

The movie is in letterbox format. There is a music video for Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me". No other extra features.

Recommendations

It's a movie worth seeing once.
