Teaser

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen) are the best of friends, even though they're both toys. As toys they and their compatriots can only come to life when no people are around. It's a happy life being Andy's toy. But one day Woody is stolen by the unscrupulous Al (voice of Wayne Knight), who needs Woody to complete his collection and sell it to a Japanese museum. Now it's up to Buzz and the rest of the toys to find and rescue Woody.

Movie

"Toy Story 2" continues the adventures of Woody and Buzz. At heart this is a simple story with fairly good dialogue that's both funny for children and adults. The animation is, as far as I could tell, the same as in the first movie. The toys look like toys and people don't look like people.

Actors

It's voice acting. Good but nothing much to say. For the most part some voices are distinctive enough that you'll recognize them. Others you'll have to wait for the credits. I like knowing who the voices are that way I can also picture the actor.

DVD

Wide screen and television formats. The only extras are a five-minute outtakes segment and Pixar's first short "Luxo Jr."

Recommendations

While not a groundbreaking animation movie like the first Toy Story, the sequel nevertheless delivers a funny and engaging tale. It's fun for kids and people who loved the first movie and want to see more.
