The Farrelly Brothers, Peter and Bobby, have done several noteworthy films in the last decade. Their films are known for their cleverness and ofttimes raunchy humor. Me, Myself and Irene is a movie that has the Farrelly stamp all over it. From masturbation to kinky sex to scatology, there is nothing here that would surprise fans of their work.

Jim Carrey, playing the leading role of Officer Charlie Baileygates, is well suited to the role of a man with split personality disorder. Carrey throws himself around, shows off his facial comedy, and delivers serious moments playing the nice guy Charlie and his "evil" twin Hank. Whether wrestling with a cow or falling down a hill, Carrey really gives it his all and does an excellent job.

Carrey is paired with Renée Zellwegger. She plays Irene P Waters, a nice girl running from her shady ex-boss who wants her dead even though she doesn't know anything. Zellwegger holds her own paired up with Carrey. She does a great job playing a woman falling in love with one personality while finding the other quite despicable. Now, Carrey and Zellwegger were starting a relationship at this time but I think the performances would have been just as good.
After a decade and a half of supressing his emotions behind a cheerful "walk all over me" façade, Charlie finally snaps and Hank comes out. Hank is the confident, though somewhat incompetent, bully that Charlie could never be. Medication helps Charlie stay in control but perhaps his career as a Rhode Island State Trooper is over.

Still, he gets one more assignment -- escort Irene to New York where she has a warrant out for her. They get to know each other on the trip and start to bond just a little. Once at their destination, it turns out that it's only the a couple of EPA agents that want to talk to Irene about what she knows of her former boss. But when a gunman tries to kill her, she flees back to Charlie and together they go on the lam. Unfortunately, Charlie forgets his medication, so it'll be three people running and Hank is not one for subletly going to ground.

It's a funny movie. I laughed at the jokes, though some jokes were a bit gross. Marvelled at Jim Carrey's performance. The movie is quite entertaining and though it may go too far occasionally, it's an adult comedy that most college-aged people and a bit older should like.

Bobby and Peter Farrelly provide the commentary track. Not a bad commentary though they constantly point out all the extras, who are apparently aquaintances that they put in the movie. There is a music video, six behind-the-scenes/making-of vignettes of various scenes, a six-minute featurette, and ten deleted scenes with commentary. The deleted scenes show them along with footage that made it into the film, the film footage being in black and white so that you can tell what's new. A good idea but it didn't seem to be consistently applied.

In any case, Me, Myself and Irene is funny movie and the DVD is fairly good. I recommend it.
