Phone Booth is a
low-key drama who is trapped in a New York phone booth by a hidden
sniper. Colin Farrell plays Stu Shepard, a public relations guy and
habitual liar. He has a wife and a girl he's trying to seduce. But when
the phone rings Stu has to answer and then he's trapped by a mysterious
sniper.
I didn't find the movie all that interesting. Stu is not a likeable
guy, though there is one great speech just before the end of the movie.
The movie runs in almost real time with the occasional picture in
picture or split screen to keep Stu on screen most of the time. It's
the "24" effect and I don't like it.
It does run quickly at less than 80 minutes. Director Joel Schumacher
provides the audio commentary and it's surprising that Phone Booth was filmed in 10 days.
Overall it's an unremarkable film and not really worth watching.
