El Gato
"Intense feline anger. Meow meow meow. You just got a call from the
police: Great Aunt Matilda has been kidnapped from her nursing home!"
While talking to Detective Kelly, El Gato can try to Persuade him to
give him any information the police has. OV/RV = 5/5 (3/3 +1 Column
Shift Penalty for his Cat Speech).
- 1 RAP (13): "Apparently three large negroes wheeled
her away bold as you can be."
- 3 RAPs (18): "A black plastic pin with the letters
ANA was found on the ground in your great-aunt's room."
- 5 RAPs (24): "We believe the pin is from the American
Negro Alliance, a black civil rights group with an office right here in
Island City. I'll be checking the place out once they get back from
lunch. You know how the blackies are."
El Gato can also go to the nursing home himself and have a looksee. He
can search Matilda's room and find an ANA pin with a Search roll
(INT/WILL vs OV/RV 2/2, need to roll 7). He can also talk to Matilda's
pet parakeet, who will point out the pin on the floor. Once he has the
pin he can ask around and find out what it stands for (INFL/AURA vs
OV/RV 4/4 [2/2 with +1 CS due to Strange Appearance], need to roll 11).

Whether or not El Gato finds the ANA
pin, he can use his Analytical Smell to garner more information. OV/RV
8/8 (6/6 if he found the ANA pin).
- 1 RAP (15 or 11): "Three black men. Seedy guys."
- 1/2 RV (24 or 15): "Strange, the three men all have
various perfume smells on them."
- Full RV (32 or 18): "They have the stink of perfume.
Lots of perfume. They've been near the Acme Perfume Factory."
Finally, El Gato can use his Tracking Scent to track the men down to
the American Negro Alliance office. This is going to be quite hard
because it's across town. OV/RV = 10/10 (need to roll 21), 8/8 if he
found the ANA pin (need to roll 15), 6/6 if he knows about the perfume
(need to roll 11), 4/4 if he knows it's near the Perfume Factory (need
to roll 9).
Once El Gato gets to the ANA office, proceed to Encounter 3.
