Rad Subplot B1

Run this scene before Encounter 1.

Rad

"Did you know that there is an aquarium underneath your lab? It's in a sub-basement. There's a weird story circulating around. Apparently, the day of the December 7th attack, though your lab was quite damaged, the aquarium level was virtually untouched. Afterwards, when someone checked the room, everything was untouched. But none of the fish were in the aquarium! Where did they go? It's a mystery."

In reality, the Radiacyclotron burst bathed the sharks in the pool and mutated them -- evolved them into super-sharks, who stealthily walked away during the confusion of December 7th. The sharks will be back...

Should Rad investigate a bit more, he can find out that there were two sharks in the aquarium (OV/RV 3). With a really good roll he can find a soldier who claims to have seen two walking "shark-men" leaving the base and heading to sea. Investigating nets Rad a +1/2 Subplot Award.

The Light Subplot A1

Run this scene after encounter 2.

The Light

"When you stop at HQ the receptionist has a day-old phone message for you. 'Sorry, I forgot to give this to you' she says as she hands you the note. One of the reporters at the Island City Grapevine, Harry Lee, wants to interview you about your super-hero allegations."

Harry is a real reporter and he wants to get the Light's story that he hinted at in Issue 2. He will try to schedule a session for the next day (which will interfere with The Light's participation in encounter 3). These are some questions that Harry wants to ask:

Can you explain your anti-hero stance?
Do you have any proof that some of America's super-heroes are traitors?
What about members of your own group, do you suspect any of them?
Any tips for what Americans should be looking out for?
Care to go over your own mysterious background?

If the story is juicy enough it'll be printed on the Grapevine. Depending on what the Light says, he may get negative reactions from the NPC Hero Community, though in this case he should get a +1/2 Subplot Award bonus.
