Pendragon Campaign - Glory and Advancement
Glory
Glory comes from three sources: Actions, Events and Adventures. In particular there is no glory for Defeating Enemies, Conspicuous Consumption, Landholdings, Chivalrous or Religious Knight, Famous Traits and Passions, or Battles (for Battles, other than Adventure glory).
Actions
Actions are any Attribute, Skill, Trait or Passion (ASTP) roll. During Winter knights look at their checks to see what glory they've gained from Actions. After glory is tallied checks are erased for the next year.
Check Type Glory Gained Other Effects
/ (slash) Value of Attribute, Skill, Trait or Passion
X Double value of Attribute, Skill, Trait or Passion
✳︎ (asterisk) Double value of Attribute, Skill, Trait or Passion ASTP reduced by one point
Events
These are the one-time honors in KAP rules Appendix Six: Glory Awards. I'm omitting most because I don't want PCs chasing nobility for the glory award. The three remaining are glory I've given out previously so PCs expect it (and yet I'm totally changing other glory awards). Knighted seems to ingrained to Pendragon RPG. Heroic Death is a nice parting gift for great roleplaying. Marriage is there to promote getting married and having offspring.
Event Glory Gained
Knighted 1000
Marriage Equal to Spouse's Glory, max 1000
Heroic Death 1000
Adventures
Adventures will grant anywhere from 50 to 500 glory. In general it should be 1x to 2x what PCs are gaining through Actions.
Advancement
Advancement happens during Winter Phase, after Glory totals are recalculated. Each 1000 Glory is a Glory Level and each Glory Level gives various points to improve a character.

Advancement Worksheet - This Apple Numbers sheet is how I calculated each level advancement.
Attribute Advancement (1 Attribute Point = 10 GURPS XP)
- ST and HT cost 1 Attribute Point to advance.
- DX and IQ cost 2 Attribute Points to advance.
- One Attribute Point can be banked in order to advance DX and IQ at the next even level.
Skill, Trait and Passion Advancement (1 Skill Point = 4 GURPS XP)
- Skills, Traits and Passions cost 1 Skill Point to advance.
- The first Skill Point spent on a Skill raises it from Default to First Advancement, usually a gain of 6 levels.
Reputation Advancement (1 Reputation Point = 5 GURPS XP)
- Reputations always have a description, e.g. Fearsome Warrior, Master Horseman, Companion of Arthur
- New Reputation levels can have new descriptions or be combined with a previous descriptor (to a maximum Reputation 4)
- Reputation levels add to Reaction rolls from people who approve, and subtract from people who disapprove.
Advantages (1 Advantage Point = 1 GURPS XP)
- Advantages are mostly determined by GM. GM may give each PC a choice.
- Many advantages will be of a social nature, e.g. becoming a banneret knight or a noble of any level, being owed a favor, allies you can call upon.
- Some advantages have a prerequisite of either Chivalric Bonus or Religious Bonus. Note that in and of themselves, Chivalric Bonus and Religious Bonus have no benefits.
Chips (1 Chip = 1 GURPS XP)
- Chips gained are added to a PCs Chip Pool.
- Other than being spent as part of raising Awareness, Chips can only be spent: When using Luck, when invoking Flesh Wound, when invoking Player Guidance (see Success Rolls and Checks).
- Other than buying a Read skill, Chips can only be gained by going up a Glory Level.
