==Overview:==
     With enough firepower to defeat other reconnaissance 'Mechs and enough
speed to outrun almost everything else, the Koshi is a valuable addition to
any army.  This 'Mech's Japanese name, reportedly coined by a member of the
Draconis Combine's criminal element, translates roughly as "small death," a
term without clear meaning in English.  The Koshi often leads a reconnaissance
Star, but it is sometimes attached as the light element to a heavier unit. 
The Beagle active probe appears to be fixed equipment on the Koshi, meaning
that it is rare to see two of these 'Mechs serving together.

==Capabilities:==
     In its most common configuration, the Koshi can serve in many roles.
Combined with its excellent reconnaissance abilities, it has long-range
striking power, a potent short-range weapon, and a machine gun to deal with
infantry. This 'Mech's deadly effect on infantry may have been what earned it
the name Small Death.
     Occasionally used as a combination anti-personnel weapon and artillery
spotter, the Koshi-A sometimes marches into battle with an unusual weapons
mix. Carrying target acquisition gear to spot for friendly 'Mechs and vehicles
equipped with Arrow IV missiles, this Koshi also has equipment to shield it
from all manner of enemy activity. It has an unusual dual anti-missile system
in its left arm, with enough ammunition to stay on the battlefield forever.
Its combination of double A-pods, machine gun and flamer give enemy infantry
no hope of attacking the Koshi.  
     In Configuration B, the Koshi packs considerably more firepower. Its left
arm carries two medium lasers as softening-up weapons, with the follow-up
wallop of double SRM-6 launchers on its right arm. The right arm also carries
a small laser. 
     The Koshi is also sometimes outfitted as an electronic marvel.
Configuration C combines the fixed active probe with an added Guardian ECM
system that lets the Koshi get the jump on any enemy.  An anti-missile system
adds to its defenses, while the right arm carries an extended-range large and
medium laser. 
     Though rarely seen, Configuration D of the Koshi reportedly carries an
Ultra-2 autocannon, a weapon not in wide use among the Clans.  Also carrying
an extended-range medium and small laser,  this version can be more useful
than the others in some situations, but those occasions are notoriously
difficult to predict.

==Deployment==
     The Koshi has been spotted with all four warrior Clans, but it is
prevalent only among the Smoke Jaguars.  The Jaguars have used it to good
effect against the Draconis Combine, though it is rumored that Gunji no Kanrei
Theodore Kurita has captured one, along with several other designs.

==Overview:==
When the 4th Altairan Lancers were reorganized into the 4th Altairan Scouts
each MechWarrior was given a custom designed BattleMech suited to their
abilities and personalities.

The Terribilis is Wrigs Nakame's personal BattleMech. He chose a light fast
jumper with good close ranged firepower. It's designed to jump in, fire, and
jump out to cool off, though often Wrigs will stay around and build up more
and more heat.

==Capabilities:==
Four ER Medium Lasers give this Mech good damage potential for its weight
class. It also has better range than most Light Mechs and the Targeting
Computer allows the Mech to play an effective 9-12 range game. The Mech even
has respectable armor, almost as good as lighter Medium Mechs.

Even so there is not enough armor if the pilot decides to stay still for a
turn. Many a near fatal mistake has been made by stopping to finish off a
nearby target.

This unique Mech is found in the TO&E of the 4th Altairan Scouts.

==Overview:==
When the 4th Altairan Lancers were reorganized into the 4th Altairan Scouts
each MechWarrior was given a custom designed BattleMech suited to their
abilities and personalities.

The Plippit is Josephine Dufresne's personal BattleMech. She designed the
biggest Mech with a jump 11. It's a close-range Mech designed around its two
main weapons: a Heavy Large Laser and a Sword backed by Triple Strength
Myomer.

==Capabilities:==
The Plippit is designed to make two big holes in a Mech, as such it is better
as a first-strike Mech and should be supported with Mechs that can deliver
lots of hits (such as with an LB-X Autocannon or SRMs).

The Mech has almost no weaknesses. It can outrun and outgun almost every other
Mech in its weight class and it still has maximum armor for its size. Only
another Clan Mech can stand up to the Plippit one-on-one.

Jason Denton's personal BattleMech is designed around missiles which matches
his specific gunnery skills.

==Capabilities:==
Although slow for a Heavy Mech, jump jets give the Jason Denton mobility in
confined terrain. Four SRM-4s give the Mech adequate short range firepower
though the Mech is designed to stay back and use its twin LRM-15s in a fire
support role. As a long range fighter having maximum armor is a bit of
overkill but it does give Denton peace of mind.

==Battle History:==
In two combats so far the Mech's slow speed has been a serious disadvantage.
Luckily the long range of the LRM-15s mitigate it somewhat. Still, with only
two LRM-15s the Mech lacks serious long range punch and at close ranges the
SRM-4s are ineffective unless the target has some holes to exploit.

each MechWarrior was given a custom designed BattleMech suited to their
abilities and personalities.

Gisaku Kodo's personal BattleMech is designed around two big weapons tailored
to Gisaku's gunnery specialty.

==Capabilities:==
The Gauss Rifle gives this Mech excellent long range punch. The AC/20 gives it
excellent short range punch. The two ER Medium Lasers fill in the gap.

Unlike other Altairan Scout Mechs, the Grey Gauss has no jump jets and less
than maximum armor. To compensate for its lack of mobility it has more rear
armor than usual, though no rear facing weapons to complement that.

The biggest weakness is the Left Torso where most of the components explode
when damaged. This would take out both main weapons. Also it only has enough
ammo for one good fight or two if the pilot judiciously fires.

==Overview:==
     In all of its configurations, the Thor's main advantages over other
heavier 'Mechs are its mobility and its ability to fire all its weapons with
little worry about heat buildup. Apparently borrowing concepts from the
Warhammer, Marauder and Victor, the Thor is an excellent all-around 'Mech.
While the Thor may be less powerful than some and less quick than others, it
successfully blends heavy firepower and maneuverability.

==Capabilities:==
     The huge Thor, which stands at least a meter taller than most other
'Mechs, appears most often in a configuration remarkable for its lack of
lasers. Its mix of weapons, however, combines with the 'Mech's maneuverability
to make it a deadly foe. This model carries a long-range missile launcher in
its left torso, a PPC on one arm, and a heavy autocannon on the other. 
     The most common variant, Alternate Configuration A, carries a powerful
Gauss rifle on its left arm. With the SRM-6 in its left torso and the large
pulse laser on its right arm, this model can cause immense damage with barely
a blip from the heat gauge. The Thor A is renowned as an infighter. 
     Though it never ventures too far from logistical support, the Thor B is
becoming more common among Clan forces. The combination of this
configuration's Narc missile beacon with an unusually large array of missile
launchers enables this model to do enormous damage, as well as providing
targeting information for its Starmates equipped with Narc missiles. Though it
carries sufficient reloads for all of its launchers, the Thor B is poorly
equipped to fight multiple engagements because it lacks other weapons when its
missiles run out. 
     Alternate Configuration C carries a massive Ultra-20 autocannon, one of
the most fearsome weapons known. Though it also carries extra shells for this
weapon, the Thor C can suffer ammunition shortages in a prolonged engagement.
Its other weapons include an SRM-6 in its left torso and a pair of
extended-range lasers-one large, one small-on its right arm. 
    Alternate Configuration D is used for missions far from logistical
support. Relying heavily on lasers, it also carries a sophisticated targeting
computer to get the most out of its weapons. The extended-range lasers and the
dual anti-missile system allow this Thor to keep its distance should it run
into more than it can handle. Two machine guns mounted in each of the 'Mech's
right and left torsos enable it to take on persistent opponents at close range
if necessary.

==Deployment==
     The Thor is the heaviest design in general use among the Jade Falcons. It
appears much more often among the Falcons than the other Clans, and the
Falcons also use it differently. Other Clans use it as mobile support for
assault 'Mechs, while the Jade Falcons use it as a quick-striking hammer to
follow up a rapid advance.

==Overview:==
When the 4th Altairan Lancers were reorganized into the 4th Altairan Scouts
each MechWarrior was given a custom designed BattleMech suited to their
abilities and personalities.

The Chicken Hawk is the personal BattleMech of Scouts commander Johan
Gustaffessen. It's designed to be a good mobile medium range Mech that can
take a lot of damage.

==Capabilities:==
Two Large Lasers give this Mech respectable long range firepower.Three Medium
and one Small Laser forward supplement the Large Lasers. The two rear facing
Medium Lasers protect the relatively thinly armored rear.

==Variants:==
JG-2: 14 Double Heat Sinks replace 16 single heat sinks. Two Jump Jets are
removed to make space for an additional Large Laser. With three Large Lasers
this variant has a heavier punch at the sacrifice of some mobility.

==Deployment==
This unique Mech is found in the TO&E of the 4th Altairan Scouts.

==Overview:==
     The Charger has always been a specialty 'Mech, useful in only narrow
roles and always in need of support from other designs.  Engineers of the
Draconis Combine, primary manufacturer of the 'Mech, had long been tinkering
with its configuration to make it more useful.  It was the first 'Mech to
incorporate recovered tachnology, giving Davion units a big surprise in the
War of 3039.
     Though the present design makes even larger changes than those of the
CGR-1A9 model, even the early models were a shock for Federated Commonwealth
MechWarriors.  Facing a 'Mech known to have only small lasers, Federated
Commonwealth units on An Ting in August 3039 were surprised to be attacked by
long-range missiles.  Even our best rho agents did not know of this variant,
and Our Blessed Order still does not know when House Kurita began equipping
'Mechs with recovered technology.
     The Chargers in service with the DCMS today, however, are a known
quantity, and they are far superior to the Chargers they are replacing. They
employ XL engines, New Samarkand Royal Ferro-Fibrous Armor, and twelve double
heat sinks.  The new armor provides much better protection, as does the
Cellular Ammunition Storage Equipment to protect the missile reloads.  Luthien
Armor Works has installed jump jets and an entirely new array of weapons.  A
Shigunga Long Range Missile 20-Rack sits atop the right torso, giving the head
a new appearance.  Victory Heartbeat Medium Pulse Lasers replace the small
lasers in the arms and torso.  To complete the package, an Artemis IV
fire-control system blends well with the Cat's Eyes 5 targeting and tracking
system to give the missiles better accuracy.

Big and heavily armored, this Mech is an excellent close-in fighter. Jumping
capability gives it superb maneuverability in the close confines of city
fighting. Both PPCs can shoot rearwards and with the additional rear Medium
Laser this Mech is dangerous to approach from behind.

The Mech's only weakness is its lighter than average armament for its weight
class. A superb gunner mitigates this weakness since he can add four Medium
Lasers and the Heat Sinks to fire them to any attack within 9 hexes.

==Overview:==
     "What weighs ninety-five tons, can run at more than 80 kilometers per
hour, can jump 120 meters, and carries a Gauss rifle?"
     "I don't know, but I'm getting out of here."
     This bit of low "MechWarrior humor" may never make it to the network
holo-coms, but it accurately reflects the Inner Sphere's inability to deal
with the Gladiator.  Though some Inner Sphere 'Mechs are better armored and
others carry more weapons, none can match the Gladiator with a skilled pilot
in one-on-one combat.  This OmniMech's exceptional maneuverability allows it
to position itself better than other large 'Mechs, and its speed lets it
swiftly pursue smaller 'Mechs.  Such a 'Mech would be a treasure for the
dueling warriors on Solaris.

==Capabilities:==
     Most Clan MechWarriors who pilot a Gladiator choose the primary
configuration because of the exceptional firepower of the Gauss rifle.  This
weapon combines with the pair of large lasers to deliver harsh punishment to
opposing 'Mechs.
     For extended missions where low ammunition supplies might cause problems,
the Clans normally outfit the Gladiator with three large pulse lasers in the
left arm and four extended-range medium lasers in the right.  The Gladiator's
sixteen double heat sinks allow it to use this array of lasers and still keep
its heat under control. 
     Somewhat similar in performance to the standard version is Configuration
B, which carries the huge Ultra-20 autocannon in the left arm and an
extended-range particle projection cannon in the right.  An extended-range
medium laser and anti-missile system round out this variant's weaponry.
     Configuration C, the fire-support version of the Gladiator, is relatively
uncommon.  Its most distinguishing feature is the enhanced targeting
incorporated into its weapons system.  The LRM-20 rack has an Artemis IV
fire-control system, and the Ultra-20 autocannon links directly to the
sophisticated targeting computer.
     A highly unusual design for the Gladiator has also been spotted on
Pinnacle.  Configuration D features two SRM-6 launchers affixed to its left
arm.  The right arm is a triangular pod with a large pulse laser at the top, a
row of three medium pulse lasers below it, and a row of five small pulse
lasers at the bottom.  This configuration has no right hand, of course, and
also requires the removal of the lower right arm actuator.

==Deployment==
     The Gladiator sees common service only with Clan Ghost Bear.  The other
Clans treat the design as a maverick, using it only for independent actions or
in concert with other service branches, such as infantry.

     When GM/Blackwell first debuted the Marauder II over half a century ago,
House units and mercenary commands alike scrambled to get their hands on this

'Mechs out to only those units that met their discriminating criteria. This
restriction ensured a demand for the 'Mech that constantly outstripped
availability. That is, until Barber's Marauder IIs were destroyed on Koniz in
June of 3064.
     The Dragoons and GM/Blackwell's corporate officers needed a way to
rekindle interest in their flagship 'Mech following its disastrous showing on
Koniz. The sudden resurgence of "classic" 'Mech designs, thanks to the Vicore
Group's efforts, and the Lyran Alliance's theft of the light fusion engine
technology gave GM/Blackwell the ammunition they needed to do just that. 

==Capabilities:==
     Today's Marauder II is every bit as tough as the Dragoons' original
design, but carries significantly more firepower than its precursor. Rather
than rely upon an extralight engine, the Dragoons chose to incorporate their
light fusion engine, freeing up the mass needed to mount a heavy weapons
loadout without sacrificing survivability. The designers chose to retain the
MAD-4A's general weapons configuration, one that had proven devastating for
decades. The paired PPCs and medium lasers have been upgraded to
extended-range models while the main weapon is now the Dragoons' latest
technological "acquisition"-the heavy gauss rifle.
     The Dragoons did significantly alter the 'Mech's outward appearance, but
internally the Marauder II is still very much the 'Mech it used to be. It has
a heavy long-range punch and, combined with maximum armor protection and the
inclusion of jump jets, an incredible survivability. Further, the Dragoons
designed this to be a command 'Mech in every sense of the word, adding a
communications suite that can not only link with any satcom system, but can
easily accept C3 modules and other upgraded communications gear.

==Variants:==
     The Dragoons produce a variant of this 'Mech that makes significant use
of Clan technologies. Based on the MAD-5A, they increased the maximum speed to
65 kph, freeing up the mass necessary for the larger engine by building the
'Mech with Clan-tech endo steel and ferro-fibrous armor. They, of course,
jealously guard this design for themselves.
     The second variant of this 'Mech seen in service has turned up in the
Marian Hegemony. The 'Mech was not sold to the Hegemony, however. Instead, a
shipment of Marauder II chassis bound for the Lyran Alliance was hijacked and
turned up in the Hegemony. This variant also mounts paired ER PPCs and lasers,
backed up by a bevy of rocket launchers. 

==Deployment==
     The Dragoons took delivery of the first production run from their
Outreach factory themselves, assigning them into the various regiments
fighting within the Chaos March, though several also made their way to Colonel
Shelly Brubaker's Delta Regiment on Tukayyid. Additionally, Duke Tancred
Sandoval appropriated several companies of these 'Mechs from New Valencia
before making his way to New Avalon. With such public displays of the Marauder
II's capabilities-news vids and gun camera footage of battles on New Avalon,
Carver V (now known as Liberty) and Epsilon Eridani have circulated throughout
the Inner Sphere-orders again are pouring into GM/Blackwell's purchasing
offices.
     For their part, the Dragoons are allowing a wider access to the 'Mech
than previously offered, a move partially motivated by profit and partially to
"punish" the Lyran Alliance for stealing their light fusion engine design (a
Star League court subsequently mediated a settlement between the Lyran state
and the Dragoons that allowed both to keep the light engine and the heavy
gauss rifle technologies that each had apparently stolen from the other).
GM/Blackwell is selling to mercenary and House units alike in the two nations
of the former Federated Commonwealth, the Free Worlds League, the Draconis
Combine and even the Star League Defense Force. Only the Word of Blake and the
nations of the Trinity Alliance-both aggressors in the continuing war for the
Chaos March-are being blacklisted.
