DVD | Hanna (2011) [****]
Focus Features
Sort of Bourne Identity with a teenage girl.
In the arctic wilderness Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) has been brought up by her father Erik (Eric Bana). Hunter, warrior, encyclopedic knowledge (but as it turns out no real-world experience).
She's sent out to assassinate CIA Agent Marissa (Cate Blanchett) but gets the wrong person. After that Hanna is on the run from Marissa's men, trying to get to Germany and reunite with her father.
Along the way she meets a bohemian family and befriends the daughter Sophie (Jessica Barden). From them she learns what a real family is like. But soon thugs catch up and Hanna is on the run again.
Also we get in bits and pieces why Hanna is so important to Marissa.
Eventually we end up with a climactic battle. Erik vs Marissa then Marissa vs Hanna.
Good action film. Cinematography is a bit too... German? There are some trippy camera moves at times. I'm glad they didn't use the family as hostages to flush out Hanna. Not really much expository dialog in the film.
Overall I liked the film.
