The Flash s1-5 (2014-18)
The Flash is a television show based on the DC Comics super hero. When STAR Labs' particle accelerator explodes CSI Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is imbued with superspeed and starts using his powers to fight crime. And mostly that crime is from other super powered people created in the same explosion.
Barry has a team to help him. Various multiverse versions of scientist Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh); Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), tech guy and later on the meta Vibe; Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), biologist and later on the meta Killer Frost.
There's also Barry's foster dad, Detective Joe West (Jesse L Martin), and Joe's daughter Iris (Candice Patton), whom Barry has an unrequited love for.
A lot of plots and subplots involve super speed and time travel. Some of Flash's greatest allies and enemies are speedsters. Barry learns to use his super speed to time travel, which tends to not work out for him. And of course various people from the future pop in.
Special effects are pretty good. Unlike Arrow which can get away with mostly practical effects portraying super speed requires lots of CGI.
I like this show because it's very 4-color comics. Heroes and villains in bright costumes and for the most part plainly good or evil. Flash is a rather optimistic hero and The Flash is a brighter, more optimistic show than Arrow.
I watched the five seasons over the course of the last few months and enjoyable all the way.
