Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
An animated half-hour series set during the Clone Wars, which I guess is between Star Wars episode 2 and 3. The episodes are mostly self-contained (there are two and three part stories) and the timeline slowly moves ahead.
Each episode tends to focus on two or three characters and the characters do vary somewhat. Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) and his padawan Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) are closest to the main protagonists and I'd say about half the stories involve one or both.
But there are some clone trooper stories, some focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), Mace Windu (Terrence C Carson), Padmé Amidala (Catherine Taber) and Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best).
This being a darker era there's a lot of killing. We see Anakin get a little more and more ruthless as time goes on, sometimes even affecting Ahsoka (a new character introduced in a previous animated film and who doesn't show up in the films at all)
Although the episodes are neat and the war stories are kind of cool. After a couple of seasons (watching about an episode per day) I kind of lost interest. There's a lack of movement in the overarching war so it seems endless and switching main characters from episode to episode gets old. Also, nobody is all that interesting other than Ahsoka who shows continual growth throughout the episodes I watched.
