Last night Cesar, Oscar and I went to some too-trendy Tea and Coffee House. The drinks come in their own unique glassware, the wash room has a window that turns opaque when you lock the door, there are magazines and only like 4 indoor tables and 4 outdoor tables.

Ping joined us a little later. She had been at a dance club with a girl friend and she commented that Cesar should have been there to meet some pretty girls. She also joked (I think) later that she was too old for Cesar and occasionally pointed out some girls in a fashion magazine and asked for his opinion.

I don't quite get that relationship as they both seem to be fond of each other and Ping does seem pretty cool. When Oscar and I asked him if their relationship was going anywhere (not that it was our business mind you) he didn't want to talk about it -- in a he-doesn't-know-himself sort of way rather than trying to be coy. True, they've only known each other since September but already they act like married people.
Today was one of those days when a vacation becomes mind-numbingly boring. T’as Rosalia and her younger sister (whose name I just forgot) arrived today. We went to lunch, then shopping for a bit, then home for a couple of quiet hours, then dinner at Stars on Broadway. All the time five adults and me and they're all talking mostly in Cantonese so I understand almost nothing. To top it off Stars on Broadway had live music they wanted to listen to so they spent almost three hours doing that while I listened to the radio in Dad's car. I should have brought a book.

Which brings me to the observation that almost every relative speaks English, Spanish and Cantonese with varying levels of proficiency. It looks like Spanish is the most common base language with Cantonese second. The older folks are not as good with the English. And with C-Cesar being Argentinian, Spanish is the lingua franca, and I can understand about half of the conversations. I'm surprisingly better at understanding Spanish than I thought.
