My aunt is
staying at my place for the week. Thursday, Friday and Saturday my
sister kept her company, at the end of which she was getting pretty
frazzled. Today it was my turn. Trying to make sure a guest is not
bored is not easy since I'm the stay at home type. And my aunt says
that we don't have to do this, that she's ok staying at home not doing
much. But then we feel bad that she came all the way here to be bored.
So my aunt and I drove to Bonfante Gardens. Unfortunately, she thought
it was more of a regular park than a theme park. Hey, I was all for
looking at the cool trees for a couple of hours, taking a slew of
pictures. But she balked at the $60 I'd have paid for admission. Eh,
not a problem. We drove up to Oakland, had lunch and browsed the Barnes
and Noble at Jack London Square. After that I was beat.

I think she's
getting a bit deaf. The television downstairs is on way loud. Normally
I can't hear it at all so if I'm hearing it now it must be pretty loud.
It's just loud enough to keep me awake. Come to think of it maybe I
have better hearing than most people. That can't be it since I have not
great hearing. But I do tend to have the volume lower than most people
keep it. I guess I just don't mind as much not hearing the words
clearly.
We played Dying Earth yesterday. Shannon as usual is a great GM.
Goddess, I hated the game. I just had a hard time playing a selfish
good-for-nothing never-do-well, which is pretty much every PC. Still, I
tried gamely and at least didn't ruin the session. Pickering had a
better time since it's more suited to his strengths. Donald really
couldn't get into it. He did his standard good-guy routine and it
really doesn't work in this game.
