Went to another Home Owners Association (HOA) meeting yesterday. We have this quarterly and I try to make as many as possible. I missed April's because it was on the 15th and for some reason I have a hard time remembering more than one important event on each day. Then I missed last July's session because I was in Vancouver.

Other than in the annual meetings, bery few people ever show up. Only two board members (out of five, though currently one position is vacant) showed up, not enough for quorum. As for bystanders, I was there along with Homer and Rashaal, my neighbors living in 4158 #1. I talked to Homer a bit. He works for Pixion, a web conferencing software company. His wife works in Public Relations for high-tech companies.
The meetings are rather uneventful, other than the yearly April meetings when we vote for new board members. We handle homeowner issues and talk a bit, then most of the meeting is board members talking about HOA business and bystanders can listen in, though they're not supposed to interrupt. I'm sort of interested and I want to keep informed about the community I live in.

As I mentioned before, there is a vacant board member seat (the board member had to step down because she's moving out of the complex). I decided to apply because the seat has been unfilled for a few months now and nobody else seemed to want it. That's one of our problems, very low participation from the homeowners. But with only 39 units, I guess we don't have that big a pool. We'll see if I get the position -- probably since no one else wants it.
