Sweet noted that you can resize photos in iPhoto by exporting them. I think I remember that feature not that he mentioned it. Anyway, so I tried to do that with a bunch of photos and now I remember why I didn't like that feature. The big thing is that you can specify height or width but not both, the other being automatically calculated based on the first image. This makes it hard to resize multiple images of different sizes, especially if you want a uniform width like I do.

Even exporting one photo at a time didn't work perfectly, though it was pretty close (I swear, 640 pixels does not mean 639 pixels!). The other problem is that the JPEGs were huge, three times bigger than what I use (and I use a relatively low compression). iPhoto is also slow, somehow managed to grab 950+ MB of RAM while importing photos, and the crop tool looks cool but is hard to use because it opaques everything outside the crop marks. I like using Apple products but that's all a bit too much to deal with.

He also showed me how to assign command-key shortcuts in BBEdit. Apparently it's a built-in feature. I was annoyed that there is no Save As... shortcut but in truth it's not as necessary since I don't use BBEdit to edit html files. I'm trying to use Mozilla since it's free and relatively good. It's not perfect: it's slow and it has a habit of accumulating html cruft which is bad if you constantly create web pages by modifying existing pages. It doesn't create bad html, just tends to leave around a lot of empty tags (like <code></code> or <a href...></a> which don't affect any text). I find that using Paste Without Formatting helps a lot to lessen the cruft buildup.
It's Carolina vs New England in the Super Bowl. I'm not especially particular on who wins, though I'd rather it be Carolina since New England won it a couple of years ago. I think Carolina has a good shot at it, though New England is definitely the better team going into the game. Once again it's a two week break before the game, sort of a boring time for football fans.

Meanwhile the Sacramento Kings are doing well, at the top of the NBA with a 29-9 record as I write this. True, it's not even half way through the season and other than Webber missing the season so far, there haven't been any major injuries. I'll always say that although they may be really good without Webber, they can't win a championship without him. At least for the next couple of years. Stojakovic and Brad Miller are awefully good and Mike Bibby is back to being a solid point guard.

In a few minutes I gotta go to the cancelled Ryland Glen Homeowners Association meeting. Someone should show up since we didn't have enough time to tell people that the meeting was cancelled. Running an association is actually quite a bit of reading. Luckily not that much work since our management company takes care of most of it. Sure we pay them like $8000 a year but it's well worth it for a new association with no experience.

Tomorrow I need to get my car smog checked. I'm worried it will fail to pass since I've had the "Check Exhaust System" light on for the last year or more. So obviously I need to make sure it didn't pass so I can get whatever it is fixed so that I can renew my registration before the old one expires. I'm such a procrastinator.
