After three days of lots of work, I finally have the BattleTech Campaign site converted. The better part of 400 files. Looking at how much left I have to convert, I don't think I'll get it all done by the end of the year. Be lucky to get half od it converted. Oh well. Next up probably Star Fleet Battles and Hellboy.

So I'm staying at the Holiday Inn in Brentwood. It's right off of the I-405 and a stone's throw from the Getty Museum. A circular building with 15 or 16 rooms per floor (14 tenant floors) and a restaurant at top. After a couple of days staying here I can say it kind of sucks as a hotel.

It's right next to a fairly busy freeway so you can always hear cars driving by, which is annoying when I'm trying to sleep. I guess I've gotten too used to sleeping in a quiet house. The floor above me are meeting rooms and I can hear things moving up there even at night, probably from a cleaning crew.

There's no free parking. You can pay to park at the hotel or pay more for valet parking. The restaurant has a small selection of food and after four meals there it's not great food. The restaurant at the San Ramon Mariott is totally better if perhaps a bit more expensive. There is no broadband access and they charge you 10 cents a minute after 45 minutes -- this last I'm annoyed at since I didn't notice the little card that warned about the new rates.

It's got the usual TV-enabled extras, though mine doesn't have a controller to play games. Awful selection of pornography. Overall I've apparently been spoiled by other hotels.
I watched about 45 minutes of Gods and Generals on HBO. At first I thought it was Gettysburg, then I thought it was Glory, then I realized what it was. Anyways, I can see why Gods and Generals did poorly at the box office. It just seemed kind of lackluster, maybe because the musical score is rather bland.

To be fair, I don't see how you can make Gods and Generals into a great movie like was done with Gettysburg. Gettysburg dealt with one battle, Gods and Generals deals with the war years leading to Gettysburg (and The Last Full Measure deals with the war years following Gettysburg). The scope is just too big for a sensical movie.

One more day left and I'm really bored. Just finished reading my second book and I didn't bring any more (forgot to pack that third book). Limited Internet access. There's only so many DVDs I can watch. I'm also supposed to be working some but I'm so bored. You know when you get so bored that you're listless and don't do anything. You need to be at a certain level to start doing something, anything.

So we'll be driving back Thursday morning. I'm going to take Highway 101 since we're right next to it and it goes right to tbe Bay Area. Never driven it for this route since I'm usually at Dave's or his dad's place and that's east of the mountains and close to the I-5. Guess we'll see how long it takes to drive home. Hmm, we'll miss Andersen's restaurant. No pea soup for me.
