DaveCon is this weekend. I'm resigned to make the best of it. Actually, I'm starting to look forward to it and I'm getting more enthusiastic every day. Apparently I'm going to carpool there with Fulton. So on Thursday I have to pick up my brother in Davis at 15:00, drive to Fulton's place and hopefully get there by 17:30, then were off to Southern California and if we don't get lost we should get to Dave's place by midnight I suppose.

Sunday night we're heading back. Hopefully we can go to the barbequeue and leave by 19:00 or so. Get back to Fulton's by 01:30 then drive my brother to Davis by 03:30 then go to my parent's place because my Aunt is staying there the weekend. Which reminds me that I'm going to have to leave by noon so that I can drop her off at mom and dad's then get to Christopher's on time.

I should take the BattleTech stuff, at least enough to finish the current fight and do the next scenario just in case. All my players will be there plus Rowe and Christopher and they can play the OPFOR if they want to participate. I've been trying to get Dave to run Twilight 2000 but that doesn't like it's going to happen.

So Shannon and Pick are going to run campaigns starting in April when Rowe moves to New Zealand or maybe even before. Pick wants to run a pirate campaign though he's not sure on what system to use. The strongest candidate so far is Rolemaster, which is a fine system. Donald and I think Pick should combine his two favorite genres -- westerns and pirates -- and do a Prairie Pirates (aka Swashbucklers of the Midwest) campaign.
Shannon had three options: an Ars Magica campaign with one GM, a Stormbringer/Elric campaign using the BRP system, and a Gloranthan Hero Wars campaign. From what I've heard, Hero Wars is just too rules light for my tastest, and BRP is pretty rules light in my opinion. That leaves Ars Magica which Shannon is very good at running.

Unfortunately we voted and Stormbringer won. Oh well, yet another fantasy campaign using a BRP system. Frankly right now I'm not enthused about this campaign. But in 6 months I may change my mind. In any case there is the obligation to try to play well. I'm sure it'll be a good game. I just don't like BRP for character development, which is my favorite part of gaming.

Actually the campaign I'm really salivating over is Fulton's Middle Earth D&D 3.5 campaign. Well, maybe it won't be D&D 3.5 but I really hope it is. For fantasy I love the D&D 3.5 ruleset even though apparently half the people (Shannon, Pick and Donald) do not, which makes it unlikely that Fulton's campaign will run with the full group.

Someday we'll have to find some time to play a bit so Fulton can experiment. He's been wanting to do it but we have to wait until Donald is not around for the night game and opportunity is scarce.

Then there's my Deadlands campaign which I will run someday. There is just so much stuff for me to do though.
