Netflix sent me a damaged DVD. Now, their DVDs have been very good the last year or so. I remember in the beginning when most of their  DVDs were pretty scratched. My DVD player had a hard time playing quite a few of them. Anyway, this DVD had been bent a bit, which damaged the DVD. You can see this crease on the data side of the DVD with a sorrounding discoloration. Oh well, I have nothing to watch.

I went to the ebMUG leadership meeting tonight. I left work at 18:40 and traffic was pretty bad all the way to the 880/238 interchange. So I got there at 19:55 almost half an hour late. Basically they were talking about upcoming guests and web site design and the ebMUG logo and a few other things.

One topic that came up is whether User Groups are even necessary, what with the Internet and all. The information part of a User Group is mostly replaced by looking it up online. The community aspects are covered by Yahoo Groups and similar services. There are boards and web sites for question and answer. Even live demos and free stuff have some web counterparts.

But going to User Group meetings and talking to other people hasn't been replaced. There is a more personal sense of community with a face-to-face group and the participants also have the common background of living more or less in the same area. The ebMUG leadership has good camaraderie and they're quite positive about their user group that is almost two years old. Personally it's a bit intimidating being the new guy.
Apple introduced iPod Photo yesterday. They come with 40 GB or 60 GB hard drives, have a color screen that can display thousands of colors, have double the battery life, and can manage and display photos including A/V out for presentations. Again I keep thinking "eh" although they'll probably see a bunch. The color iPods are $500 and $600 respectively.

You know, I just realized that eggs over easy means that the yolk is basically uncooked. Since when I was a kid I had eggs scrambled because that's the only way I knew when asked by a waitress. Then I saw on a television show when someone ordered eggs over easy and it looked ok to me so that's how I ordered eggs from then on. Actually I'd rather have the yolk more cooked but I have no idea what the name is.

Dave showed me a couple of houses he looked at last week. One is in the Ardenwood area as part of a community. House, yard, quite place. Very expensive with lots of offers. The other house is a few miles south still in Fremont. It's at the end of a road, reminding me of my parent's old place on Bramble Way Trail. Anyway, this house is ok with a nice yard and cheaper with no offers.

But the neighborhood is not the best, mostly because a lot of the houses have dying lawns and the house across the street has a bunch of cars, most of which don't look like they're running. Heck, they even have a couple of cars parked next to the house. I don't know, it kind of screams lower-class which I wouldn't mind if I was living along but I would mind if I was raising a family.
