Today was Halloween -- the candy holiday. Since I didn't have any candy I went to Albertson's and bought a few bags of candy (about $35 worth, and I barely had enough). Then I had the candy laid out and I waited for the kids to swarm. Now, I haven't been around for Halloween in a long time so I wanted to see how many kids came around.

First there were the two kids next door. Then the group of kids that live in Glenwood Terrace. Eventually some kids whom I assumed were from outside the complex. All in all 20 kids ranging from toddlers to mid to late teens. Everybody got a two-handed scoop of candy and I still have some left over for my chocolate cravings.

Not too many costumes when I think about it. But all the kids were happy and I rarely noticed any parents around, so I guess we don't have rampant paranoia some other communities have. It was a cold night though and I may have caught a bit of something. In any case it was good to see happy kids.

On television I watched Stargate SG-1. This was a Jackson story with pretty much none of the other main characters. It was actually pretty good as Jackson tried to negotiate a treaty between primititve aliens and the US military. I remember that Michael Shanks left the show for a season because his character was getting less and less things to do. Having a few Jackson stories is probably one reason why he came back.

Played some Diablo again. I have 5 of 7 fruits. Found a Gauntlet Prize which is a charm but I have no idea what it does. Found an item that allowed me to change a soul into a jewel which freed up a ring position. Also added sockets to my cross and rings so I can add stuff there.
Somewhere along the line I stopped watching football because I don't have the time to watch it. Nor really the desire. I guess part of it is that 49ers really suck this year. But also just in general watching sports is not as exciting as it used to be. Every week I have so many things to do and I'm not as good about doing something while watching television. And sports are not something you can tape and watch later. Not really.

NBA season starts on Tuesday I think. Sometime this week for sure. This year the league realigned into six divisions with five teams per division. The Kings are now in the Pacific Division with the Lakers, Warriors, Clippers and Suns. For the most part the Kings stayed pat this year. They lost Divacs and got Ostertag as a replacement. An offense for defense tradeoff. They lost Wallace and some of the backups but it looks like both draft picks will make the team.

In general like in recent years the Kings are going to depend on a core of players that have been around as a team for the last five years, with Miller and Bibby being the new guys. I guess the big question right now is how well the team plays together after Webber's remarks at the end of last season and Stojakovic's resultant trade request. A team that has had great chemistry for the last few years might not have it anymore. I don't think it's that bad. Yet.

The NBA season is so long there is not much point watching a lot of games. I don't know. Basketball is an ok sport but it moves too quickly for my tastes. It's too much shoot shoot shoot score score score. I like the game strategies being more obvious like in football or baseball. There is plenty of time so that the announcers can explain a lot of plays which is nice.
