Tim is a funny guy.
He sang a couple of filk songs. Showed us a short video of an Internet
series he's working on. And he put on a skit later with some audience
participants. He talked about Voyager, how he got the job after several
tries throughout the years to break into Star Trek. Talked about
acting, both the joys and perils of the profession. Said he enjoyed the
ensemble nature of Voyager because it means less work for each actor. [Full] |

Here we see Tim and
three audience members doing a short Star Trek parody that Tim wrote,
complete with sound effects on tape. The kid with the Starfleet uniform
runs some sort of email Star Trek shared universe. It's not quite
role-playing, more like shared story writing. He gave me his card and I
visited his web site and it's well done. Too bad I don't remember his
name or the web site anymore. [Full] |

Chris getting Tim's
autograph. As long as we had tickets he wanted to get an autograph. The
autograph line is well done and everybody waits patiently. Just about
everybody gets an autograph and at about 15 seconds a person it'll
still take an hour. One reason why the guests can't spend too much time
being friendly and chit chatting with people, or signing anything
special on the autograph. [Full] |

Pictures: Day 2
Wow, it's been 3-1/2 months since the convention and I finally took the
time to get the July 9 pictures sorted, choosing 16 for this page. Not
necessarily the clearest 16, since they're all pictures of Ms Leick I
had plenty of room to choose some marginal, yet interesting, pictures.
I'm not that great with a camera, so out of 200 photos half were thrown
out in the first pass. The second pass I sorted them into
clear/interesting, clear/normal, blurry/interesting and blurry/normal
photos. Out of that I chose 9 of the clear/interesting, 5 clear/normal
and 2 blurry/interesting photos.
There was a lot of experimenting with my camera. Shots at different
shutter speeds and aperture widths. A fast shutter speed and high ISO
gain can compensate for indoor lighting and someone moving around a bit
(waving their arms or walking about), but the picture does come out
grainy. Closeup shots require more light, which means slower shutter
speed, which means I have few closeup shots of Ms Leick moving about.
Black and white photos tend to be a bit sharper than color photos,
since the camera uses all the pixels for color information instead of
using 1/3 for each of 3 colors and interpolating.
