Principal Cast

Nanako Shichugusa: Mariah Martin
Dr. Kyoji Ogami: Nicholas Jakes

This is a short series of six half-hour episodes. At first glance this is a story about a mad scientist and his clumsy assistant nurse. But it quickly turns into the mystery of Nanako. the first four episodes are relatively stand-alone with the addition of the Nanako subplot. It all comes together in the final two episodes.

I thought it was an ok series. A bit too much teenage T&A, which I don't mind but it's a bit too juvenile even though it's an adult anime. Nanako is a bit too annoying though I guess that's because she's supposed to be young. The graphics and animation are quite excellent.

Operation 1: The First Spiral

A mysterious cabal from the army and church employ Dr Ogami to study a dead alien creature. The creature turns out to have a triple helix DNA. It comes back to life and attacks Nanako but her cold ends up killing the creature.

Operation 2: Memories of You

Dr Ogami takes Nanako on a camping trip. She gets lost and a bear almost eats her. Dr Ogami's flashbacks in this episode indicate that Nanako is far older than she appears. Meanwhile we learn that the cabal is also watching Nanako.
Operation 3: The Psycho Patient

A mysterious prisoner is sent to the hospital for study. He turns into a biological monster bent on destroying Nanako, who it identifies as a biological weapon. To stop the monster Dr Ogami uses Nanako as bait in a variety of S&M scenarios.

Operation 4: Fire-crackers

While Dr Ogami visits a former mentor, team Ogami dress up Nanako in Ogami's Powersuit Type B Prototype and enter her in the International New Weapon Show. While at the show one of Ogami's enemies attacks Nanako, mistaking her for a cyborg that Ogami had planned to build.

A rival scientist wants those secrets and sends his shock troops to kidnap the girl. But Kyoji flees with Nanako and together they go the rival scientists' lair for a final showdown.

Operation 6: The Last Spiral, Latter Part
