Teaser
West Canaan, Texas is a football town -- high school football that is.
The Coyotes are the pride of the people and its players can do no
wrong. Jonathan Moxon (James Van Der Beek) is the backup quarterback
for the team. Football is not his life -- his girlfriend Jules Harbour
(Amy Smart) and getting into Brown University are what he dreams about
-- but football is his father's life and so he's on the team.
Only five more games left in the season and then he can forget about
all of this. All he has to do is endure it in the shadows. Until star
quaterback Lance Harbour (Paul Walker) is injured. Moxon then has to
take over and he wins. Quickly he becomes the star and the focus of the
entire town, including head cheerleader Darcy Sears (Ali Larter). Can
Moxon remain the same person or will the limelight and attention change
him for the worse?

Comments
"Varsity Blues" is a drama wherein our hero, Jonathan Moxon, has to
deal with fame and the demands of the tyrannical football coach Bud
Kilmer (Jon Voight). There are some near nude scenes with underage high
school girls, including a memorable whip cream bikini sported by Ali
Larter, and there is some actual nudity when the boys visit an exotic
night club. Otherwise it's a basic plot where the football jocks band
together to do what is right and still win the big game.
Actors
Nothing terribly good or bad.
DVD
Only extra is the theatrical trailer.
Recommendations
As a sports movie, I can mildly recommend this movie. Otherwise, there
are probably better movies to spend your time with. |
