Scary Movie is a parody of the horror movie genre. But not just the horror movie genre, it's a parody of movies that satirize the horror movie genre. As such it takes the clever parts of several movies -- mostly Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, though also including elements from The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth Sense, even The Matrix -- and does some really horribly bad jokes with them.

The basic plot is Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, a group of friends hit someone with a car and killed him. Now a year later there is a masked killer terrorizing them and cutting them up. Like Scream, the actual killer is a bit of a surprise though that's more because there were no clues.

There are a whole lot of sex jokes. Lots of gay jokes, some lesbian jokes, bad sex jokes. Sometimes it's funny, but ofttimes gross and some of the jokes go on way too long. And because it's a PG-13 movie they couldn't show anything which probably is for the best.

The DVD has not much extra. Some deleted scenes and a short behind-the-scenes featurette. All in all this is not a DVD I recommend. Even Shannon Elizabeth can't make this movie all that watchable.
