Yuki (Yumiko Shaku) is the last princess of a clan of assassins in a
somewhat futuristic Japan (futuristic because it does seem to be the
near future -- we see an advanced bullet train -- but somewhat because
there are no other indications other than people referring to
futuristic events).
All the assassins are great swordsmen and Yuki is better than most. But
she's a quiet and intense 20-year old who still mourns about her
mother's murder 15 years ago. It's Yuki's 20th birthday, the time when
is to take the mantle of leadership of the clan.
But then one of her mother's loyal men, who had been missing for 15
years, returns to tell Yuki that it was the current clan head who had
her mother killed. Yuki confronts said leader and ends up fleeing for
her life with the rest of the clan after her.
Yuki falls in with Takashi (Hudeaki Ito), a sometime terrorist who is
thinking about retiring from a business where you don't get the option
of retiring. Takashi takes care of Yuki after her near-death experience
and they start falling in love. But it is not to be the assassins and
terrorists catch up to them.

I thought The Princess Blade was an ok movie.
The fight scenes are fairly good but the story doesn't have a good
ending. It has an ending that sets up further movies. Takashi's story
especially seems rather random. So overall I think this movie is for
people who like the comic book because apparently this movie is based
on a comic book.
