Confessions of a
Dangerous Mind is a film based on Chuck Barris' autobiography
wherein he claimed to have been a CIA assassin with 33 kills. I suppose
you can look at it as the story of Barris with a bunch of extra stuff
that is unproven. If I think of Barris as being schizophrenia then the
movie is sort of like A Beautiful
Mind, in other words told from the viewpoint of this crazy
person.
Sam Rockwell plays Barris, Drew Barrymore plays his longtime girlfriend
and then wife Penny, George Clooney plays CIA recruiter Jim Byrd, Julia
Roberts plays CIA operative Patricia Watson and Rutger Hauer plays CIA
assassin Keeler. The acting is fine, the cinematography is fine,
everything is good but the story I didn't like.
What I liked: the final confrontation between Barris and the CIA mole.
What I didn't like: the whole story.
