The Pacifier is a
Disney kids-action movie starring Vin Diesel as Shane Wolfe, a Navy
SEAL who has been tasked with protecting the kids of a murdered
scientist. This is basically a tough guy has to take care of these kids
and discover his softer parental side.
The kids are Zoe (Britanny Snow), Seth (Max Thieriot), Lulu (Morgan
York), Peter (Kegan and Logan Hoover), and baby Tyler (Bo and
Luke Vink). Each has their challenging life problem that Shane will
eventually help them solve using his SEAL skills.
Faith Ford (playing Julie Plummer) and Lauren Graham (playing Claire
Fletcher) have minor roles as the mom, who has to go away for a week,
and the school principal. Brad Garrett has the amusing role of Vice
Principal Murney and all-around goofy bad guy. Carol Kane plays Helga
the nanny who leaves in a huff midway through the movie.
There's nothing really particularly surprising or original in this
movie. It's a fairly standard sort of Disney movie. That's not to say
that it wasn't entertaining because it was. But being a Disney movie it
is aimed at the younger audience. I found parts of it rather tame
though overall it was a watchable movie.
