The final movie of the prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith is the first Star Wars movie to rate a PG-13 rating, due to violence. The war continues between the Republic and the droid rebellion of General Grievous (voice of Matthew Wood). Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) is held captive by the general and it's up to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and the tragically doomed Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to rescue the Chancellor.

After the inevitable rescue Palpatine continues to suborn young Anakin, who has ability and ambition. Yet that's not enough to turn Anakin to the Dark Side. What finally does it is that Anakin forsees the death of Padmé (Natalie Portman) during childbirth. Palpatine lures Anakin with the forbidden powers of the Sith Lords, powers to even keep loved ones from dying.

Things come to a head as the Jedi are stretched thin throughout the galaxy battling the droid armies. Palpatine reveals that he's Darth Sidious to Anakin who in turns tells the Jedi council. But when Mace Windu (Samuel L Jackson) goes to arrest the Chancellor a fight errupts. Anakin is forced to save Chancellor Palpatine, who kills Mace and binds Anakin to the Dark Side.

Palpatine issues executive order 66, the elimination of the Jedi Knights. The clone troopers turn on the Jedis and cut them down. Only Obi-Wan and Yoda (voice of Frank Oz) survive the purge. Anakin himself leads a clone battalion into the Jedi Temple and wipes out the Younglings.
Senator Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) and Padmé watch in horror as Chancellor Palpatine declares the formation of the First Galactic Empire to the cheering ovation of the Republic Senate. Obi-Wan tells Padmé of Anakin's treachery. Unbelieving she flees to Anakin who is on Mustafar, executing the separatist leaders now that their usefulness is done.

In the volcanic world of Mustafar, Padmé confronts Anakin and realizes that he is now evil. Obi-Wan appears, having sneaked aboard Padmé's ship. Former master and student duel to the death while across the galaxy Yoda pits his skill against Palpatine.

Yoda is unsuccessful in his duel against Palpatine. Dejected, he resolves to exile himself. Meanwhile Obi-Wan gains the high ground and cuts down Anakin, taking his other arm and both legs. Anakin slips close enough to the hot magma to set himself on fire and his screams echo as Obi-Wan walks away.

But all is not lost for Darth Vader as Palpatine rescues the charred remains of Anakin. A painful and lengthy operation later and Anakin is encased in the black suit that will become his trademark. Meanwhile Padmé delivers her twins but succumbs from a broken heart. They decide to hide the twins, with Senator Organa taking Leia and Obi-Wan taking Luke. Luke is delivered to his aunt and uncle. End credits.

The special effects are great. The story is fast paced with only a few silly inconsistencies with the original three movies. It's quite nice how everything sets up the original Star Wars. And Chewbacca makes a guest appearance. All in all Revenge of the Sith is a fun movie to watch, though it does have that darkish ending.
