Lyran Forces Invade Kessel
Kessel, Dieron Military District, Draconis Combine
Three battlemech regiments along with seven
conventional regiments
invaded Kessel last week. The invasion was spearheaded by the 4th Skye
Rangers, commanded by Hauptmann-Kommandant Kathleen Heany. Also present
were the 1st and 7th regiments of the 12th Star Guards. Defending
Kessel
are the 3rd Dieron Regulars and the 12th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre along
with four conventional regiments.
"This is a hasty preemptive strike against a major
Combine world,"
said analyst Carolyn Thompson of Dobless Inc. "The LCAF has stripped
the
defenses of the Ryde Theater in this invasion. Hopefully the Combine
will
send troops to Kessel instead of using the invasion as an opportunity
to initiate their own offensive."
Some heavy fighting has been reported. There are
reports that the
Sun Zhang Academy Cadre was mauled by the 12th Star Guards and that
they
they are retreating. The Skye Rangers encountered stiff resistance from
the Dieron Regulars.
Davion Expresses Interest in Peace Proposal

Word arrived yesterday that Prince Hanse Davion wishes
to meet Archon
Katrina Steiner to discuss a possible treaty between their two nations.
The message comes five months after the Archon's Peace Proposal to the
other Successor Lords. Coordinator Takashi Kurita and Captain-General
Janos Marik have already dismissed the Proposal. There has been no word
yet from Chancellor Maximilian Liao.
"This is great news," expressed Rita Schwartz of the
Commonwealth
Public Relations Office. "An understanding with the Federated Suns and
hopefully the Capellan Confederation might force the other two Houses
to
change their minds. This could bring an end to the 3rd Succession War."

Critics say
that it is unlikely for Hanse Davion to agree completely
with the Peace Proposal. They think that he demand concessions from the
Commonwealth in exchange for Federated Suns support of the Proposal.
Also,
the Federated Suns and the Capellan Confederation are bitter rivals so
it
is unlikely that they would agree to sign a mutual agreement.
Gienah Automotive Sales Up 11%
Gienah, Bolan Province, Lyran Commonwealth
Gienah Automotive announced that sales this year are up
11% compared
to last year. This marks the 6 consecutive year of growth for the auto-
motive giant. Gienah's three divisions - Gienah Trucks, Gienah Cars,
and
Gienah Combat Vehicles - account for only 16% of vehicle sales in the
Lyran Commonwealth.
"Most of our sales are in the Free Worlds League,"
explained Donald
McNab, President and CEO of Gienah Automotive. "Vehicle exports
accounts
for 77% of our sales. Naturally, the LCAF gets priority on combat
vehicle
sales. But we do sell combat vehicles to every other nation in the
Inner
Sphere."

them to "kill them all". Over the next five months, the DCMS troops
executed
almost everyone on Kentares IV. In the end, 52 million of the civilian
population - over 90 percent - died.
