Coordinator Brings in New Year

Luthien, Kagoshima Prefecture, Draconis Combine

Coordinator Takashi Kurita observed the New Year by reaffirming his House's claim to the titleship of First Lord of the Star League. He went on to denounce the other House leaders as usurpers and betrayers of the Star League ideals. The Coordinator finished by swearing that the people of the Draconis Combine will persevere against their enemies and that they will unite the Inner Sphere and reestablish the Star League.

This year marks the two hundred and thirty fifth anniversary of House Kurita's struggle to unite the Inner Sphere. Throughout that time, there has been many victories and great gains for the Draconis Combine. But there is still much work to do for the people of the Combine. The Coordinator expresses his thanks to the citizens for their hard work and determination.

DCMS Repulses Commonwealth Invasions

Kessel, Dieron District, Draconis Combine

The Lyran Commonwealth forces which invaded Kessel last August have retreated offworld. The 3rd and 24th Dieron Regulars fought the 4th Skye Rangers and the 12th Star Guards and defeated them in several major battles. The Commonwealth's forces have also retreated from Marfik and Sabik.

"After their treacherous surprise attacks caught our forces unprepared, our valiant warriors chased the cowardly dogs back under their beds," said Warlord Vasily Cherenkoff of the Dieron Military District.

Duke Ricol Declares End to Bandit Threat

Rodigo, Kirchbach Prefecture, Draconis Combine

Duke Hassid Ricol declared an end to the bandit threat on the Kirchbach Prefecture. There has been no bandit activity following the punitive raid that the Duke orchestrated a few months ago. The raid crippled the bandit forces of Red Jack Ryan on Butte Hold.

"The bandits have been given an emphatic warning to stay out of the Combine," said Duke Ricol. "The barbaric scum in the periphery can do what they will there. But we will not tolerate their depravities to our peoples."

Worlds of the Combine: Luthien

The Black Pearl of the Draconis Combine, Luthien was settled in 2276. In 2617, Sanethia Kurita announced that the capital of the Combine would be moved from New Samarkand to Luthien. At that point Luthien was a quiet pastoral world with few natural resources. It took a generation to build Imperial City to house the Coordinator and the government apparatus. The rest of Luthien was heavily industrialized which made Luthien a major manufacturing world. The capital cannot support itself and depends on nearby worlds for food and raw materials.
