Hanse Davion Meets with Katrina Steiner

Hilton Head Island, North America, Terra

Reports from Terra confirm that both Prince Hanse Davion of the Federated Suns and Archon Katrina Steiner of the Lyran Commonwealth have met on Terra to sign a major treaty between their two nations. The Prince vacationed in nearby Ozawa so that he could travel to Terra surreptitiously. The Archon was also vacationing near Terra, on the world of Skye with her daughter Melissa.

Officials from both governments have stated that there will be an announcement early next month. Meanwhile, ComStar is hosting the historic meeting which is the first time that two heads of state have met in generations. Reportedly each ruler has only a small honor guard, with ComStar providing security for both delegations.

Capellans Liberate Hurik

Hurik, Sian Commonality, Capellan Confederation

Capellan forces finally liberated the world of Hurik from the Taurian occupation forces. McCormack's Fusiliers of the Northwind Highlanders fought for months and slowly drove the Taurian forces back to their dropships and off the planet. Casualties have been heavy on both sides and a lot of collateral damage has spilled onto the civilian sectors.

Meanwhile the Taurian Concordat still holds the world of Larsha. Elements of the Taurian Velites and Longwood's Bluecoats hold much of the planet. The Capellan forces have been having a tougher time because the people of Larsha have not contributed as fervently to the Capellan cause as the people of the other planets.

Dixie Dawn Spotted in Harrows Sun

Harrows Sun, Raman PDZ, Draconis March, Federated Suns

The crew of the jumpship Stellar Night said they saw the Dixie Dawn jump into the system and then back out. Captain Truance Scott of the a nearby dropship confirms the report. "A ship came out of hyperspace right next to the Stellar Night. Must have been only a few kilometers away. As we moved closer I could see that it was all torn up. The jump sail was shot and it had a jagged rip on the starboard side that ran most of the way down the ship. I could still see the name Dixie Dawn on the hull. Then it jumped out. We never picked up any signals or transmissions from it."

The Dixie Dawn disappeared after jumping out of Harvest in the Draconis Combine, more than 250 light years away. She jumped out in February of last year and this is the first report of a sighting. Local officials say that it could have been any ship painted with the name of the Dixie Dawn. Recordings from nearby ships are inconclusive. It is a mystery how it could jump out so soon without recharging the K-F drive.

A Dark Age

With the fall of the Star League, the worlds of the Inner Sphere moved into a new era, though no discontinuity was apparent to those who lived through the transition. Even today there are many who claim that the League will yet rise like a phoenix from the ashes of the Succession Wars. This is symptomatic of the Era of the Warlords.

Beginning with the Amaris Coup and stretching through the two and a half centuries since, history has become little more than a seemingly endless sequence of battles, alliances, and famous dates. In the process, however, scientific, economic, and social progress have begun to wither away. Mankind has entered an age of stagnation. Greed and ambition have so blinded the Successor Warlords that they have failed to recognize, let alone correct, humanity's slow but steady decline into darkness.
