In a speech given today, Coordinator Takashi Kurita wished good luck to the announced union of the Federated Suns and the Lyran Commonwealth. ComStar Lifts Galtor Interdiction

Galtor, Irurzun Prefecture, Benjamin Military District, Draconis Combine

The Galtorian government backed down from its attempt to tax the local ComStar station as a regular business. In response ComStar lifted the communi- cations interdiction that it had placed on Galtor. Interstellar trade on Galtor almost halted due to the lack of communications. Styx Mining Garners Major Contract

Styx, Al Na'ir Prefecture, Dieron Military District, Draconis Combine

Viscount Robert Monahan, President and CEO of Styx Mining, announced that his company had won a major contract to supply mining equipment to Rim Common- ality of the Free Worlds League. "The Rim Commonality has resource rich worlds that are undeveloped. They have chosen not to buy from any Free Worlds League company. Our first shipment will go out next week which will consist of almost all of our current stock."

Corporate Profile: Styx Mining

Name: Styx Mining
Home Office Location: Memphis, Styx
President/CEO: Viscount Robert Monahan

Business Summary:

Styx Mining exists these days to serve as a foil for the powerful Metals of the Earth Company. Whenever Metals of the Earth has drawn an unseemly number of government contracts, a few go to Styx. The firm also picks up the slack when Metals of the Earth is so overextended that it has no additional equipment available. Needless to say, there is a heavy air of fatalism in the Styx boardrooms, and the company is not known for innovation, except in paper JumpShip design.
