Special Envoy Arrives on Atreus

There have been several reports that a special envoy from the Draconis Combine has arrived on Atreus to talk to Captain-General Janos Marik. Many speculate that the agenda concerns the recent Lyran Commonwealth's alliance with the Federated Suns. Perhaps the Draconis Combine seeks an alliance with our Free Worlds League. Certainly this meeting has more import due to the start of offensives against the Combine by the Davions and Steiners.

18th Marik Militia Arrives on Oliver

Oliver, Unaffiliated World, Free Worlds League

The 18th Marik Milita arrived on Oliver with little fanfare. The unit starts a 2-year garrison duty to protect this world so close to the Lyran and Capellan borders. This is the unit's first official assignment since 3014, when the unit joined Anton Marik's rebellion. After the rebellion the unit was purged of disloyal elements and has slowly been rebuilt. Rebuilding has been slow because few soldiers want to serve on such a dishonored unit.

Earthwerks-FWL Splits Stock

Procyon, Unaffiliated World, Free Worlds League

Earthwerks-FWL, Inc announced that it is splitting its stock in a 7 for 5 stock split. Sir Campbell Carrington, President and CEO of Earthwerks-FWL, made the announcement Monday morning. "Our two factories are running at 85% and orders from the FWL Military are the highest in almost a hundred years," said Sir Carrington. "This stock split will increase our flexibility for the coming months."

Earthwerks-FWL (League Stock Market Symbol: EwFWL) was formed during the First Succession War from the Earthwerks factories operating in the Free Worlds League. Since then, the company has continuously produced high-quality BattleMechs for the Free Worlds League Military.

Duchy of Oriente

One of the three founding provinces of the Free Worlds, Oriente was once the League's technological and industrial center, the strongest and most unified province in the League. The Succession Wars, however, have ruined Oriente's economy and industrial might. As the most populous province on the Capellan border, it has been the target of numerous attacks from Marik's longtime enemy. Generations of young Oriente men and women have been sacrificed to the bloodshed, including the rulers of Oriente, House Allison, the last of whom perished in battle in 2845. Since the death of the last Allison, House Halas, a MechWarrior family originally endorsed by the Marik, has ruled the province. The province of Oriente's thirst for revenge has made it among the Marik's closest allies in Parliament. This position has also made the Oriente MPs opponents of the highly provincial Andurien bloc.
